I honestly wouldn't mind that kind of stoppage when a title is on the line. It leaves no doubts. Just an average fight though? It was too late.

Even though I'm a Just Bleed fan (free Yamasaki!) I wouldn't want to see a stoppage like that on every fight, that's pushing it a bit.
But it should be the standard for championship fights, blood feuds, and any fighter who's complained about an early stoppage.

for people who say the commentators impact the reaction: the commentators are all ex-fighters who have been around the sport - coaching & fighting or part of camps professionally - when a guy is flat on his belly with another dude hammering him in the skull, there's a time to save a fighter from brain damage

It was a terrible late stoppage and anyone who thinks it was a good stoppage is either a psychopath or they don't know what they are watching.
Exactly.

Kinda crazy that I’m seeing a lot of posters here agreeing with the stoppage who have older accounts. Y’all should know better. Also kinda crazy that this opinion is not uncommon here either.

Do ppl not understand what “intelligently defending” one’s self means? Green was flat on his stomach not even covering up. He ate 5-6 clean and unanswered shots before he went out. I’m all for a clean finish but it’s clear that he wasn’t gonna fight back after one of those.

Getting knocked out = killing them? LMAO you school girls need to find a different sport. You so scared, why not just make fighting illegal? You know for their health.
We're just not in the gladiator days anymore and fighters need to be protected from themselves.

Sure you could say "they know what they signed for" "hey let's ban fighting altogether" or whatever the hell you wanna say but there's still a subjective line that is considered late or soon for a stoppage.

When I first saw it, I thought it was a horrible stoppage. The second time, I thought it was slightly horrible but still horrible.

The guy got legit knocked down/almost out and then took 10+ hard shots from a power puncher in the hardest possible position to defend.

Being badly hurt while being belly down and completely flat, he wasn't getting out of that.

Yeah I've been watching MMA for decades and I've watched thousands of fights. Many thousands. Sometimes a fighter can come back from being hurt, and sometimes the fight is over. That fight was pretty much over as soon as Green hit the ground.

Hendo tries to put Bisping's head through the floor after decapitating him with the H-bomb - "Holy shit! KO of the century! That was fucking awesome and Bisping totally deserved it!"

Ngannou drops a massive hammerfist on Reem after decapitating him with an uppercut - "Holy shit what a KO! Fucking brutal hammerfist! Just Bleed!"

Masvidal unloading full power head strikes on Askren's stiff body - "Holy shit! KO of the year! Askren totally deserved the super necessary punches!"

Bobby Green eats a couple extra punches after getting knocked loopy - "OMG this is too brutal! Think of the poor fighters and their CTE! Fire that ref!"
The first 3 have nothing to do with the ref

A lot.. and I mean A LOT.. of dumber than rocks MMA fans. They really don't understand what they are looking at or the health consequences.

He was moving around avoiding lots of shots, when I was watching it live I thought he still had a chance of recovering. Thought it was fine to me. I wouldn't call any stoppage perfect.

People in here who want every fighter rendered completely unconscious to stop a fight are morons. There was an extra 7 punches in this fight that served no purpose. Green was done. Even if he had a 0.1% chance of surviving, it's better to end the fight. These guys take enough damage as it is and taking huge shots to the head when you aren't protecting yourself at all (barely moving and dodging, no hands up) is even more dangerous. Yes, the sport is already dangerous, but you don't need to throw more fuel on the fire for no reason.

Just because there are sometimes early stoppages doesn't mean you need to have a fight end like this one did.

The dozens of 'likes' on the OP is a good reminder of what the MMA fanbase is comprised of.

Dangerously retarded trash, with a not insignificant amount of genuine sociopaths sprinkled in.

Yeah nothing to crazy about that stoppage. Reaction feels overblown almost fake. Did it get started by the Bobby Green fans or some people that lost their parlay. If fighters going to sleep is terrible should probably just do away with the striking all together.
