Ya then maybe they shouldn't be fighting?....... do they think this is a safe sport to compete in without knowing the risks? Maybe they should go play disc golf or flag football. You sensitive emo's are killing every sport with your hippy hair, tie dyed shirts, and Birkenstocks. It's mma for God sakes, chances are your going to get hurt.

Because like you, they watch fights to see brutal violence. Don't try to be "Holier-than-thou" when you tune in for the same reason everyone else does, which is to witness an ass whooping. Do people forget what the point of this sport is? Good God the fans of this "sport" amaze me sometimes.
All your long winded bs. It was a very late stoppage.

Need to watch it again but I think when they first started calling for it to be stopped, it was a little early. However after a little while you could tell Green was done and wasn't trying to fight anymore. He didn't need to fully go to sleep like that, ref should have noticed sooner. Knowing the perfect time to stop a fight is a tough job, Jiri fight was stopped early for example but sometimes the difference between early and late is only a couple seconds.

Ok I just rewatched it and I don't think it was that bad... Wouldn't be surprised if the ref loses his job over it tho. Massive over reaction from DC and Bisping, other NPC commentary guy was just being an NPC and echoing what DC and Bisping said.

glad to see most of the people in agreeance, that was not a bad late stoppage. at any point, green could have tapped, his corner could have also thrown in the towel, seems like they werent that concerned. weird. i'd much rather see stoppages like this, where it is definitive, rather than some BS early stoppage where the guy is not even out, immediately stands up, etc. and for those complaining, you're literally watching the wrong sport. the name of the game is CTE. the shadow realm is a holy land. no one avoids it.
The commentary really effects public opinion too, if the ref loses his job it's Bisping/DC's fault entirely. They were acting like Green was just laying there dead the entire time lol. I think he went out for a split second when he hit the ground but then came back and was trying to defend.

It's the stoppage I've been asking for the whole time. I hate those lame TKOs where a fighter gets a little rocked and the ref stops in. Nope - a fight should only be stopped once a fighter is out cold or at the very least sprawled out on the ground with no movement for some time. We clearly got both, so excellent work, ref!
Agreed, this new age pussification is bullshit. It's only to protect the organization from litigation later on, it was never really about fighter safety. It's nothing different than what it happening to the NFL these days.

No idea what people are sooking about. That was a perfect stoppage.

Like, fucking rewatch it lol.

He hits the deck and Turner starts unloading, but he's not landing any more than 2 at a time before Bobby blocks at least one. The shots that were landing were moving Bobby about, but none of them were sending him limp.

Then he lands one as Bobby was turning. The next one sent him limp, and then the ref was immediately moving in.

Can't hit the deck and block punches these days without people crying haha.
The next step they won't be allowing KO's anymore. I vote for more warrior scenarios and less pussified stoppages. There's been countless fights where fighters could have easily turned the tied if not for refs prematurely ejaculating all over the Octagon.

Saving fighters from becoming Gary Goodridge is now "corporatization".
<codychoke>
what happened last night never happened to gary goodridge and he still ended up with dementia. that's the nature of combat sports. these guys are taking life altering damage whether or not they get KO'd.

they signed up for this bro. theyre getting CTE whether they get KO'd brutally or not. i think you should actually have to get your opponent out of there to win.
People don't take into account the countless punches absorbed during the fight and in sparring. A ref saving a fighter from getting hit 1 more time after taking 100 shots during that fight ain't gonna make no fucking difference. Lol, it has everything to do with optics and saving the organization from scrutiny and that's it.

Yeah, there definitely wasnt any premature early stoppage there! Ref gave him enough opportunities for his next 6 fights!

Hendo tries to put Bisping's head through the floor after decapitating him with the H-bomb - "Holy shit! KO of the century! That was fucking awesome and Bisping totally deserved it!"

Ngannou drops a massive hammerfist on Reem after decapitating him with an uppercut - "Holy shit what a KO! Fucking brutal hammerfist! Just Bleed!"

Masvidal unloading full power head strikes on Askren's stiff body - "Holy shit! KO of the year! Askren totally deserved the super necessary punches!"

Bobby Green eats a couple extra punches after getting knocked loopy - "OMG this is too brutal! Think of the poor fighters and their CTE! Fire that ref!"

100% commentary effects everything as well, and when it's coming from DC, about half the time, it's going to be shit. there are too many new fans, who lack MMA knowledge, and just because they see the commentating team, instagram, ESPN say something, they just ride along with it, since that's what people do for other sports too. Greene was fine until he wasn't, at any point he could have tapped, verbally submitted, his corner could have thrown in the towel, but they didn't, and they're also not complaining/protesting. i swear, there's like maybe 10 posters here who know whats up, the rest are new, and they unknowingly hide behind whatever UFC/ESPN tells them to think, thinking that they are right because the "official" response said so. fucking morons.
