I don't know but holy shit did Detroit clean up in 1989 (even without Bure):

Nic Lidstrom
Sergei Fedorov
Vlad Konstantinov
Mike Sillinger
Bob Boughner
Dallas Drake

God damn was that accident a fucking shame. We loved konstantinov round here.

That is an amazing draft year for us for sure.kind of a shitty one for everyone else. I member when I was young people always talked about our secret elite drafting skills. Wish we still had them.

No cap back then. 2002 Wings had a payroll of $67 million, the 2006 had a cap of $39 million. This was your 3rd line:

It ain't cute is my point.

Yes but I'm not sure I agree.

If he already owned that jersey and is just screwing around making the best of his team losing but also kind of enjoying Florida winning its kinda funny and maybe sorta cute

However

If he went and bought it between periods just to clown the oilers because he is pissed that they lost than I see your point

It's just that I don't know which is true so I'm not sure how to take it.

God damn cap punishing successful franchises. We were rockin an Allstars team and it was fn awesome to watch the wings play. What was jersey and colerado spending ?

I miss those 2 always really liked zetterberg. Liked hull too. My mom's last jersey was a zetterberg. Feel like I kinda stopped caring and became super casual after zetterberg retired.

Got me watching this now.

OK boys I gotta vent before I goto bed here.

I'm a bruins fan. This whole fucking thing disgusts me. Marchand took a slightly home town discount for a few years in my opinion.

He was the guy we appointed captain. Did the season suck? Sure. But he kept his cool and has ALWAYS been in shape and worked hard. He does thr right things for his teammates.

I understand the team needed a rebuild but letting him go for a 1st is blasphemy to me. I'm happy he's doing good but I basically tuned out after his trade.

I know there is no loyalty in sports but I was hoping something like this didn't happen.

McDavid is very good but he's not truly 'great'.

The great players step up in the big games.

He's just kind of consistent.

He never gets the hat trick and carries the team to a win all on his own the way a truly great player does.
Yes, McDavid and Draisaitl are the two big problems the Oilers have. <lol>

Draisaitl is the definition of a big game player. He shows up when it matters. McDavid is always there and he's a consistent source of points but he's not that Gretzky/Jagr/Lemeiux type of guy that can go out and just dominate.

Well just checked, last season game 7 vs Panthers McDavid had no points and 2 shots on goal.
Series winning game vs Dallas: 2 points sure but -1 so Dallas scored with him on the rink.
Last night a goal but -1.
Draisaitl similar thing. Yes they have alot of points but if they get scored on more its an issue.

I get it, but the Oilers have two of the Top 3 forwards in the game, they will never, ever be able to improve that even more. Of course when they lose to another top team they don‘t score three each, but that is usually true for any team that loses. It is kind of „well duh“, otherwise they would win every game.

The trick is to give them more support or maybe just having the luck to get over the hump.

But can they find the depth/support to get over the hump, i dont know.

As earlier mentioned their window might be closing, Drai is 29 and McDavid is 28. Still years left for them but Nuge is 33, Hyman is 33, Kane is 33, Ardvisson is 32, Henrique is 35, Janmark is 32, Perry is 40, Skinner is 33, Ekholm is 35, Klingberg is 32.
11m in cap space but alot of players UFA this or next summer and McDavid needs a new contract, if they lose the finals again (which seems to be the case) will McDavid request to be traded? Even if he stays, busy summer for Oilers.

Draisaitl's new contract kicks in next year and Bouchard has to be resigned. Then you have the core aging and guys like Ekholm really getting up there.

So yeah this is still by far their best chance imo. Even down 3-2. I guess their window is still somewhat open next year, but I would be quite surprised to see this group win after that. Especially after the Holloway/Broberg fiasco.

Marchand seems to be scoring the important goals and getting it done for his team .

Who you got as the front runner ?
Marchand, Barkov, Bennett and Tkachuk close in points but with the finals points Marchand just might get it if its down to them.
Bob is in the might and from dmen idk, Ekblad maybe. Schmidt alot of great assists vs Oilers (and Leafs).

In short between the Rat and Bob. Leaning towards Marchand fucking hell.
