I just don’t understand the penalty for forcing another driver off the track. Surely when lando was ahead at the apex ( his team said he was) and max not staying on track is forcing lando to go wide. That should have been a penalty on both imo.

At least we had some great excitement in the last 10-12 laps of that race too! Those 2 were battling it out.

I thought McLaren messed up as well. First of all I didn't think it was fair to penalize Lando b/c it was such a close call and Max clearly forced him off. But as you said, just give the spot back. They would have had plenty of time to pass him again since clearly Lando was running much faster than Max.

I know the commentators said they could have made up the 5 seconds after the pass and it wouldn't have mattered, but still.....not giving it back was a risky game to play and they lost.

It won't affect the drivers' championship since Max has it seemingly locked up. But I guess those points could come into play in the constructors standings.
