2025 Motorsports Thread

How did you feel about the Weber Zuckerberg Red Bell situation years ago?
Let's face it, they're based in Shearwater not Australia.
I wasn't watching F1 back then, unfortunately. I started following during the Seb vs Lewis title fight in 2018. I probably would have sided with the Weber camp back then, its easier to root for whoever the underdog is on the team at the time.

On to 2026. If the rumors are true the Mercedes engines are going to be back on top again. I get the feeling Red Bull is going to be no where making their own PU next year.

Oscar the better driver. Just not the favourite driver within his team.
Is he really though? The better driver I mean, he’s made some mistakes when it comes to his IQ near the last stint of the season, crashing in Baku, taking out Norris in Texas sprint although Antonella is partly to blame also, he’s done a few questionable moves but he essentially still a rookie, he’s only been in F1 for a few years.

It was basically the turn of "team orders" where Vettel was clearly the most favoured driver. It was pretty rubbish for Weber and he made it well known.
It used to be a bit of a nudge nudge wink wink, after Mark kicking off about it (and rightly so) it was made more transparent.

Pretty ironic now since Webber is Oscars manager.

Lando is the champ. So my opinion doesn’t mean much. But I feel Oscar gets the shorter end of the stick with team orders. And he has 9 wins as you say, pretty much a rookie.

I obviously like Oscar. I really love Webber.
Thing with McLaren, if we're honest, it started out as a British sport and if there is bias it's from the team in Shearwater not just Zak. Lando's British. It isn't xenophobia or anything like that, I loved when we had Lewis and Jenson when husband worked for them because we had 2 British drivers. But I'd kill for how Fernando used to start races after he left McLaren and went to Ferarri. Those were exciting years with him.

I do really miss all the interviews and stuff you get after the podium

So my big scenario question.....did Kimi cost Max the win this year or would McLaren and Oscar have given 2nd place to Lando to win the title?

Remember last week Kimi's mess up on the last (or 2nd to last) lap allowed Lando those critical 2 extra points. Had he not gotten those, both Max and Lando tie, Max wins b/c more 1st place finishes.

So would have....and how terrible would it have felt for Oscar to do it....but would McLaren have asked and would Oscar have given up 2nd place to Lando?? Man, that would have been some awesome drama! I would have felt a little bad for Lando to get his first title tainted a bit that he had to be given the last points he needed by a teammate and I would have felt even worse for Oscar to be asked to do it knowing he was doing so well the early part of this year only to have to help give the championship to Lando. But what if?

watched a vid on changes etc for 2026 F1 cars.
significant yes, catastrophic? not sure, time will tell.

the whole downsizing and reliance on E power to such a degree is a sad
reflection of the future for motor sports IMO.

personally, if I can't hear the cars, I'm not watching the 'racing.'

Bog off, we know you will.

Lando's up for the sports personality of the year but he's against Rory McIlroy, an England woman goalkeeper and woman rugby player...both who have had a brilliant year.

bog off indeed!

read that quickly and thought Rory was a woman goalkeeper. LOL
they'll give it to a girl.

Fun fact with JPS and John Hunt in the F1 movie...
And now Brad Pitt is my favourite actor again.

What did y'all think?

I love athletic chicks tbh.
They're a few at my gym who really work out, plus they're gorgeous.
I try not to leer, but girls know when they're being ogled.
I love getting caught though, LOL.
I've always enjoyed making chicks mad.

...anyway...

Thoughts on F1 the movie, everyone? It's made Brad my favourite actor again. The HQ was McLaren's HQ when husband worked there so he drove that drive around the water and walked the corridors. Really really cool.
