Yes, Westbrook might have to take a pay cut in 2 years from 47 million a year to maybe 43. He'll have to rely more on his 18 million a year in endorsements. UFC fighters could do the same if they were allowed to have endorsements. Reebok uniforms stopped the fighters from having their uniforms endorsed and the UFC extracts a big cut of any other endorsements fighters get for themselves.

The ufc doesn’t take a cut from outside endorsements.

2) The NBA players have a union that negotiate their cut to make sure they get paid well and the teams get their cut. The NBA players like with the shortened season agreed to reduce pay. The dynamics are completely different between the players and the NBA and the UFC and the fighters. The owners of the NBA never try to union bust because that would blow right back into their faces. The UFC situation is more similar to college sports in that unions should exist but likely will never develop due to the extremely short careers most fighters have.

I get all that and good for them I guess. I think people working on the frontline in hospitals, people collecting your garbage early in the morning etc. should be paid way more and NBA players should be paid way less. We're comparing UFC fighters as if they should get what NBA players get but I think NBA players shouldn't make that much to begin with.

This is insane, who in UFC other than Conor can make this much, the 120 ranked in salary is making 10 millions a year
they don't have to suffer cte to get it either, don't have to pay for their coaches, have personal coaches from the team, their boss have personal planes for their teams

they can eat train and sleep in their franchise facilities for free, their own medical facilities and doctors, trainers, coaches, it's insane how the treatment is so different, while both being popular sports in the world

It’s not surprising at all. Some of these teams have TV deals that are worth more than the UFC itself. Their TV sponsorship deals are far more lucrative. The New York Knicks, a terribly ran franchise from a basketball standpoint, is worth more than the UFC.
