2020-21 NBA Player Contracts

nah MJ was getting over 30 millions a year in his second three peat, which was way more than the rest of the bulls team altogether, if we factor in inflation, it would be over 120 millions a year if he's playing today, which is peanut compare to what he brought to the franchise and nba over his career

yeah I just checked in that. And my memory is foggy of what some dude made 25 years ago.

1) is this a surprise?
2) I know everybody will be complainjng that the UFC fighters don't make enough but ever stopped to think about whether the NBA players aren't over paid?

only a handful of people get ppv point and it's a very small part of the ufc revenue
for example flyweight champ figueiredo hasn't gotten ppv point yet and he's someone with the actual belt.

I would also say that UFC is an odd sport to be held up by PPV. It has so many PPVs and so few that are worth bothering with. It is like if the NBA had PPV for the regular season games and instead of a huge fan base, there is an extremely small fan base and only they buy the PPVs.

2) The NBA players have a union that negotiate their cut to make sure they get paid well and the teams get their cut. The NBA players like with the shortened season agreed to reduce pay. The dynamics are completely different between the players and the NBA and the UFC and the fighters. The owners of the NBA never try to union bust because that would blow right back into their faces. The UFC situation is more similar to college sports in that unions should exist but likely will never develop due to the extremely short careers most fighters have.

it's because the ppv model is stupid

they be better off struck the deal with big network and just broadcast their fights there

It is crazy to think that MJ was worth much more then his actual contract, which was massive. Sports stores today are still filled with his name, and he made the Bulls iconic. Same with Kobe, every sports store has a Kobe jersey, giving the Lakers a constant stream of merchandise. We can’t even complain how much they make, because they bring in so much more revenue over time for their teams.

UFC has yet to find a way to get a return investment off their fighters over the long term, everyone so far just makes money either by ticket sales or PPVs, which is peanuts compared to merchandise sales

NBA players as well as the rest of major sports players get paid grossly too much.

their teams are probably losing huge amount of revenue from not able to sell live tickets
But from I heard since the franchises are privately owned, their bosses are all wealthy individuals who have ventures outside of nba, most do not own nba teams to make money

They have revenue sharing so the profit-makers subsidize the money losers. But at the end of the day, the NBA Umbrella operation reports a profit to it's shareholders.

it is extremely funny that Terry Rozier, generously something like the 230th best player in the NBA, will make more in salary this season than basically every UFC fighter has ever made in an entire career

You think Terry Rozier is the 230th best player? You are so stupid lol

No one's heard of the D-League? hahahahahaha. You sound so fuckin stupid right now
Why? Because no one gives a shit about some Ball Sports D League?

It's only been an official minor league system since 2017, prior to that if wasn't even officially affiliated with the NBA and used as a minor league farm system.

it's hilarious when Terry Rozier is making 18 mil a year
when the entire net worth of champions like Weili Zhang and TJ Dillashaw are only 1 million
and Dana has the balls to say UFC can compete with NFL or NBA
