So how much are you worth? Do you have a regular job, or are you living off interest from your investments and whatnot?

live off employment which is a solid salary along with fairly strong investments for future needs / possibilities ie retirement and or rainy day.

Yourself?

I haven't worked too much. Mostly I just live off what was given to me by relatives, and friends.

Fantasy. You're an American, you're dependent on the state for your quality of life. We all are. You wouldn't live the same in many other places, because you're a product of your environment. You didn't go it alone.

Agreed, thats why i am fine with people putting 1/5th of their income into the system - dollar wise, the rich still pay more but still use the same rd's, military, police, airports etc i use. Also, lowering the federal tax intake would also lower discretionary tax that could be able to be used on bailouts - and not just welfare.

But how does the millions who take out more than they put in benefit me? If they we eradicated the bottom 40 or so million, everyone else benefits immensely - so again, how do the have nots benefit me? If they die out, everyone who puts in more than they take out benefit more from the fruits of their own labor.

It's more than envy and compassion, it's about the overall economic effects that we'll all have to deal with, but you don't understand. Completely uncontroversial in the civilized world, except with right-wing American Luddites.

again, what do people who take out more than they put in do for the economy and society?

I
t's not very high, you're just very low.

Clever, but if i stand on the extra funds a lower tax would provide me, i could stand just a bit taller. Even taller if i didnt have all the weight of the have nots on top of me - with their sad stories and hands out.

why dont you try to put money into the system via income tax? Are you taking welfare? Are you happy being dependent on others for your supper?

So it's ok to have wealth if you've labored for it, but it's not ok if it's just been given to you? I happen to be very fortunate, and am surrounded by relatives and friends who are generous to me. Should I not accept their gifts?

sure you can.

You really should not have an opinion of taxation if you do not pay anything in it and nor should you apply for welfare if you willingly do not work.

If you can find pride in obtaining money you did not labour for, well then thats on you.

I consider myself grateful, and fortunate to not have to toil. I'm proud of other things I've accomplished though. It really is a luxury to wake up in the morning and not have obligations. I just see how I'm feeling, and then decide what to do. Even if that's just sitting under a tree and looking up at the sky. Or, reading a book at home. Eating a second breakfast is often what I choose.

Oh, and I pay sales tax, property tax, etc. etc.

but pay a significantly less amount of total acquired tax on income than lets say, someone making 50k / year in California.

how much do you give to the poor?

why do you friends just give you money / do you feel bad that they work and you just take their money?

its enough to buy a house?

My friends and family give me money and stuff because they love me. My dad says he will probably buy me a house this year. I didn't ask him for one he just loves me. My friends want to see me, so they will buy me airfare, and hotels to come visit them. Then they feed me. They don't expect anything in return. One friend gave me a motorcycle, another his gun collection. I've also received cars. My friends dad wants to give me one of his classic sports cars. I'm hoping for the Delorean, but my girl likes the porsche. He offered to have me personally apprentice under him at his law firm. I didn't want to do it, because I like making art for my neices and nephews.

I'm very generous myself. I am thinkin about giving a friend a car for her wedding. She always looked cool in it, and I rarely drive it. I give to the poor, but usually the same one who lives near my house. I have volunteered in many nonprofits to aid the less fortunate.

i want to believe you, but me, like the majority of people who just read that post would find it pretty fabricated.

if not, good for you. i guess free loading is fine if its not funded by my tax dollars.

how old are you?

Almost 39. And you can ask anyone who knows me. I am quite generous myself. I cook for people, and help them solve their problems. I try to positively influence young people. If I have something that someone else would enjoy more than me, I give it to them.

I've worked for money, about 2 years total of my life. Everyone around me just seems to get wealthier through work, or insurance payouts, their businesses, or whatever. No one I know is trying to keep all their stuff. My friend's dad has like 7 sports cars, and he's about 80. Why not give one away to a close family friend? He knows I will drive it like it deserves.

As a matter of fact half those cars were gifts to him from his friends.

I'm a little sleepy, so didn't catch that "free loading" thing the first time. I guess I operate in what's called a gift economy for lack of a better word. Really it's just sharing. There's nothing free loading about it. People are generous with me because they know I'm the same way. It's like we all just pass things around without anyone trying to permanently capture our common wealth. It all comes down to trust. Surround yourself with people you can trust, and you will never want for anything.

except some people in that group have to generate the money....do you still live with your parents?

who do you support in the election?

Practically, yes.

He has smaller chance of winning the nomination than Kasich.

They said it was impossible for anyone to ever win Ohio. Well, I said I was gonna win Ohio, because it's the most important step in becoming president. You have to win Ohio. They said no one could do it, and I did it. I won Ohio. Just like I said I would. And now Ohio's been won. Donald Trump didn't win Ohio. I did. I won Ohio.
