I really wish he would buck the "hate the poor" trend and actually come out in favor of government spending on American citizens who are poor and need help. A lot of poor people vote Democrat because the Republicans have gone full retard with their tax cuts for the rich and destroy the New Deal shit. The Republicans need to come out of the stone age on that issue. I will say, watching dozens of Trump speeches, I've yet to see him scapegoat poor people like your typical Republican, and I feel that's because he understands that the poverty we see now is the product of neoliberal, supply-side policies that have devastated the manufacturing class in America (just look through the thread to see people on the left defend this madness). It's one of the main reasons I like Trump. His rhetoric is balls-out but I will take that over the typical Republican shit of blaming all woes on the poor and lowly.

I thought that speech was completely awful. It did nothing to help Trump. Like at all. I would be seriously surprised if this convention did anything to help Trump in polls.

1) Trump failed to give a signal to unite the party. He did not even give a signal of loyalty to his own party.

2) Trump failed to give a signal to people who are not white straight males. He did not talk about women once, Blacks were only mentioned in code (the inner city poor), Latinos are still only illegal aliens who swarm the communities.

3) He failed to correct his horrible foreign policy statements where he failed to correct his statements regarding NATO - essentially disregarding the American foreign policy rationale of the past 65 years.

4) He failed to deliver any proposal of substance and only delivered empty phrases.

I enjoyed the cynicism in the choice of music btw. Subtly telling his voters that they are not gonna get what they want anyway.

The language he used ties hispanic to murderer. If I talk about nba centers who cant can't shoot free throws and go on about how it's the plight of the nba and makes games unwatchable (which it does sometimes), and dont follow it up with anything positive about basketball, your going to leave with the idea that watching the nba fucking sucks.

Republicans have been fear mongering for the past 30 years, last night was the worst I've ever seen of it.

You're scared of getting replaced. Not fearing crime doesn't mean I support it. Crime is an inevitable part of society with such disenfranchisement.

Are republicans afraid of immigrants or are they unhappy with illegal immigration? And do you support crime?
