So you think any of the guys that said Trump was dangerous, unqualified, inept, etc. that are endorsing him now are going to stand a better chance in 2020?

He gave an interview and said I told you that I wouldn't support someone that maligns my wife. For all the 'lyin Ted' jabs, he may have turned out to be the most honest in the GOP field.

Cruz is betting on Trump losing. So if goes on the trail in 2020 he can say I told you so, look Trump could not even beat Shillary.
If the GOP shithead or the DNC shithead wins, either shithead is going to be a 1 term president, since both are over 50% in negative polling, which means most people hate both of them.

I get that but what exactly is the plan? If trump gets blown out, he has to hope the base shifts more conservative. If Trump narrowly loses, Cruz's failure to endorse trump will be seen as the reason Trump lost. Cruz has a minority in the party but its a bunch of ideogogues who will follow him to hell and back. And in either scenario, Kasich has to not run because he was the bigger man. He chose to abstain from everything due to his confidence, not manipulate the situation to sabatoge your own party member.

I liked the speech also I would have liked it more if he come out without the teleprompters and just shoot from the hip that is when he is at his best.
One of is big advantage is how he can read a room. I have not seen Trumps ability to read a room in a long time. Obama is a great speaker as well, but different to Trump.

I also wouldn't put it past Trump if he planned all those controversial to create more interest. No one is going to remember his wife's speech or Lying Ted come November, but everyone tuned in the next day to be entertain.
IMO that is all he needs, people will watch his speech and like the points he is trying to make, because at the end of the day his main points are correct.

It was a brilliant move actually. Cruzs epic butthurt actually united the party and brought even more attention and anticipation for Trumps speech. Also he allowed Cruz to ruin his own political career.

They used Cruz to their advantage. It was very unconventional. No political advisor would have advised him to do that.

Trump walked out at the end of Cruz's speech to put the spotlight on himself.

Then he said that they knew Cruz was not going to endorse him but he "Let him talk anyway. No big deal"

It made him seem like the bigger man and it got a ton of headlines so that there would be more press and more eyes on him the next night

What about the fact that he has no experience, or the inability to tell the truth most of the time, or the inability to admit it when confronted with his lies, or the misogynistic behaviour, or the vindictive ad hominem attacks he uses to deflect instead of actually addressing criticism of his own actions? What about all that shit? How can you even consider for a moment voting for this asshole who would just as soon point at his wife's tits in public as shake hands with "the blacks"?

I can agree a choice between him and the rest of the republican candidates is like getting shit on or having to eat it, so just don't choose any of them.

I think it gives those #neverTrump people more resolve to stay home or leave president blank.

The attention angle I could see; Trump certainly doesn't worry about looking foolish, but I'd say Cruz is pretty safe for his Senate seat so worst case for him is that he wont ever be POTUS (a pretty long shot any how). Granted his best chance appears to be by running against Hillary - even Dole would beat Hillary, it will say a lot of Trump doesn't.
