i know u guys are talking about soccer, but from a sociological point of view people here in Brasil are not happy at all with the World Cup.
People who live in communities, the "favelas" (google it) are being tragically moved away from their homes by the FUCKING ARMY something i would call gentrification, but im not sure if the term aplies.
Many protest are being done, people realized this World Cup will only benefit Fifa and big majors building contrctor owned by milionaries.
Not only that but the goverment invested a lot of public money to build stadiums wich probably will never be used again for reasonable purposes and the protesters claim the money should be invested in health public services, education and infrastructure like decent public transportation.
In fact, things are going pretty bad.
We had big protests in june 2013 and we still have them happening once in a while and government are trying to aprove a law wich makes protest ILEGAL.
I wonder what the world cup is doing to our democracy.
People could get 20 to 30 years in prision by protesting according to new anti-terrorism laws made up just for this event.
The army and police are KILLING inocents everyday in this situation and many workers building stadiums have DIED due to poor security standards.
]people are not happy.
Anarchists and black blocs are promising to prostest hardly agains the world cup and so all left wing activists. All we know is were fucked by this shit.
Any person who is not happy by receiving circus and bread here in Brasil are totally aware we should not realize this event.
The message from us brazilians for people from other country is to not come to Brazil and sabotage the world cup.
