That amount of money would be magical, but it would be too painful to give up your family and friends.

Yes if my family knew I left on my own volition to pursue an amazing opportunity and wasn't murdered. The only thing remotely stopping me would be if my family had no idea what happened. I wouldn't want to make them worry or feel obligated to keep searching for me. Under those circumstances I wouldn't leave. Otherwise hell yes.
