As someone with two stand alone seatbelt tickets, I will say that I dislike the law. It mostly pisses me off because I have a motorcycle as well and I can't get my head around how I'm allowed to ride that without a helmet even and that's fine. But I can get pulled over in a safer vehicle than my motorcycle and have to pay a fine for putting myself at danger.

Obviously seatbelts save lives though, so his logic is dumb about being anti them. But I'm with him on anti seatbelt laws for adults.

He grew up in a small town in Arkansas from the look of it, I can see why not wearing one would seem normal to him. I disagree with him but don't hold it against him, his upbringing was probably pretty lax.

Not the same. DUIs out others in danger. A lack of seatbelt only puts the person who doesn't wear one in increased danger. I will die on the hill of motorcycles should be banned if I'm able to get fined $100 for driving 3 blocks to the store without a seat belt

I didn't say they were the same, the video was just showing how attitudes on things change with time and seat belts were mentioned by the lady at the end. There's not really a way to make motorcycles less dangerous, there is for cars. People not wearing seatbelts costs the rest of us money when they get merked in even fairly mild crashes.

She cute

I grew up pre seat belt era. It wasn’t mandated and one day it was. Ye aint from my timeline son pipe down

Then why not ban motorcycles outright? Banning motorcycles would force more car drivers which would be safer and cost others less if they get in mild crashes with them.

I recall debate about it before and right when it became law. The people in my life, some were against it and they were far from stupid. Maybe it was just that american thing of not wanting to be dictated to. We even had a famous local newscaster who editorialized that he felt it was government overeach to make it mandatory but that he did agree people were stupid not to wear one. Honestly, with cell phones today? That's one that there is a law for and no enforcement that I really see or know of.

motorcycles aren't mandatory to be insured in my area I don't think.

Bryce Mitchell doesn’t believe in Santa:
“It’s baby Jesus that comes down them chimneys, bringin us presents every Christmas. I don’t need the government tellin me different. ”

If you grew up in a time that is the law I respect the right to break it or challenge it by data. I just see so many other hills in America worthy of valiance if that makes sense. I don’t like it and as a dude who rode bikes it’s a hilarious joke. So is living in fear of Cesar when you aint fucking with anyone. I just do or don’t follow what I feel injustice by law by my own discretion. However if I’m gonna platform a cause man a seatbelt? I just wont wear the mothafucka and save the speech. I’m all for a law that a seatbelt alone cannot be the cause of a stop

Because with cars we CAN control certain aspects of safety so we do. I'm sure if there was some device that made motorcycles markedly safer it'd be mandatory. With cars one small, unintrusive strap makes a huge impact

But there is, a helmet. There is no law requiring one to be worn. At least not in Illinois and 31 other states.

He's comically stupid. Like it blows my mind that there are people this dumb who don't have an actual mental or developmental disorder.
Oh he definitely has something but he'd never get diagnosed

So if he has to jump out and roll, what happens to his kid that he's strapped in to his seat?

My thoughts exactly. Obviously they are safer and people should wear them. But forcing it when it only harms yourself isn't far off from banning McDonalds because it's bad for your health.
