I'm not saying you're wrong, but having grown up in Germany, I can say without a doubt that inter-class movement is much more restricted there than it is in Canada or the US. Society is designed to be much more stratified than it is here, or at least it's much more overt. The same goes for France, the Netherlands, etc.

The intense stratification of much of European society (maybe not in Sweden, but I'd like your explanation of that statement) is a big part of the reason why a lot of terrorists in Europe are often 2nd or 3rd generation immigrants: they can't move up, they get frustrated, blame society, and shit goes very, very wrong. Everyone here (most of whom I'm sure have never been to Europe) who is solely blaming Islam is simply wrong, the problem is much more complex and requires more than just a basic understanding of how European societies work.

Three Syrian brothers convicted of child rape in Norway

NORWAY -- It was in the summer of 2016, that three brothers, aged 20, 21 and 25, were charged with rape of two 13-year-old girls in Haugesund. The brothers are all Syrian nationals and came to Norway as refugees. The 25-year-old is also married in Syria, and has three young children under four years old, writes the regional newspaper Hnytt.

The rape took place in an apartment in Haugesund last summer, after the men came in contact with the girls through social media.

All three men have now been sentenced by Haugaland District Court to four years and three months in prison, for rape of children under 14 years.

Additionally all three brothers were sentenced to pay damages of NOK 100,000 ($11,700) each to one girl. The reason for this is that the court sees a significant risk that she may suffer from PTSD because of the abuse. She was, according to the verdict, exposed to three intercourses in a row. Prosecutor and Prosecutor Marte Benedicte Engesli Lysaker, said the verdict is in line with the public prosecutor's demand.

A baby goat missing from an animal park in west Sweden has been found. But zoo keepers say the kid was so badly injured in a violent sex attack that they had to ask vets to put it down.
The young animal, which had not yet been given a name by staff at the Slottsskogen animal park in Gothenburg, was known simply as "the little white goat". But it was nowhere to be seen when workers did their regular Monday morning count this week.

As they scoured nearby green spaces and woodland, a visitor ended up discovering the injured goat in a remote area of the park. The animal had been burned and had sustained severe wounds that indicated it had been raped. Staff at the park called in vets who put the goat to sleep.

"It's awful, it hurts your whole body, when you hear about people doing these kind of things," Per Åberg, a spokesperson for Slottskogen, told The Local on Tuesday.

"We have contacted police but they have got a hard job to find the kind of person who does things like this," he said.

Åberg said that staff would spend Tuesday investigating how to step up security at the park, which opened in 1874 and is popular with both local families and tourists.

It includes a children's zoo and is home to a number of projects designed to preserve species native to the Nordic region that are under threat, including the rare Humbolt penguin.

Many of the animals, including goats, elk, sheep and ponies are usually allowed to roam freely in the attraction's vast grassy areas. But Åberg suggested that some of the park's animal residents would be locked inside their enclosures overnight while investigations continued.

"It is a heavy day, it is sad, but we must manage and we must go on – because we have a lot of animals that we must take care of," he said.

"We have a lot of good things going on in the animal park and we want to keep fighting and so that more visitors can come to see them (...) It's a very educational place or you can just to come to relax," he told The Local.

Migrant Charged With Rape of Minors ‘Deliberately Exposed’ Victims in Sweden to HIV

An HIV positive Ethiopian migrant charged with the rape of two underage girls in Östergötland took steps to “deliberately expose” victims “to the risk of contracting a chronic and life-threatening disease”.
Nahom Mengistu Yitayu, who says he is 16, will be prosecuted for two counts of child rape and two counts of attempted aggravated assault, after having sex with a 14-year-old and a 13-year-old in Spring last year, reports Norrköpings Tidningar.

Though fully aware he had HIV, in the period during which the rapes were committed the Ethiopian neglected to take the antiretroviral drugs he was prescribed. As a result, medical records show a hugely elevated amount of virus in Yitayu’s blood at the time, greatly enhancing the risk of infecting his victims.

The African knew the consequences of not taking his medication, and that he was not allowed to have unprotected sex, according to official documents. Yitayu was also aware that the law requires people who are HIV positive to inform their partners, but he failed to do so.

A third victim of the Ethiopian told police he was “indifferent about the fact his sexual partners were underage, and willing to force unprotected sexual acts on his partners against their will”.

The young man, who claims he was born on New Year’s Eve in 2000, will not be charged with rape in the case of the third girl.


“It happened before he was 15 years old and therefore he was not criminally responsible,” said prosecutor Britt-Louise Viklund. “But I think his behaviour towards the girl proves that he was prepared to ignore the plaintiff’s age, and neglect to say he has HIV.”

“No one has been infected, fortunately,” she added.

In 2014, Sweden’s Red-Green coalition government committed to scrapping the legal requirement for persons with HIV to inform partners of their status, after heavy lobbying from LGBT groups who say the law unfairly attaches stigma to the disease.

The then Vice Chairman of the Social Committee Veronica Palm said society has a moral duty to counter prejudice about HIV.

“It’s still a serious disease, but the drugs are so effective now that people are still able to live a good life with HIV,” she said.

“Today there’s a risk that the legal requirement to inform a partner of your status could be counterproductive, as it maintains the stigma around HIV positive people who are in need of help.”
