To those who are trying to clown Branch for tapping....

It's called knowing your limits & saving yourself from serious damage. Give Branch his props for going in there with the p4p best MW in the world <BronTroll1>and sticking to his word and doing what he said what he was going to do and that was test Rock's chin. But of course the 6'6 giants of Sherdog have way too much dignity to tap to strikes.
Lmao at this insecure projecting....i barely saw anyone clowning on him for tapping to strikes like a little bitch boy.....thats all on you

Def dont have chins like canelo or ggg

Weidman would never tap to strikes. That's why his face is a little droopy now so I give Branch a pass on this one.

if you TAP , you can continue with life, there is no shame on it.
that simple

I don't really like the stigma that you are a bitch for tapping to strikes or chokes. Nobody should have the right to tell a fighter when they should have tapped out. We can speculate & say maybe they could have continued in the fight but if a fighter ever wants out that option should be available to them & they shouldn't be hated on for tapping out.

Ah, here we go with the same dumb fucking debate that comes up every several months, amongst others.

The first thing you have to understand is REGARDLESS of what "professional fighters think" of tapping to strikes; their opinion is formed under completely different merit than yours as a forum member. So, agreeing with them is taking their opinion but not really understanding why.

You'll also find quite a few fighters (that make up a lot fucking more than 0.01%) who believe in self preservation. Tapping out in an impossible, or defeated position is what it is. We aren't in the Colosseum, fighting against the thumb turn of Caesar. We are fighting for income and longevity in the fight game. Every now and then, you accept defeat then start again. Otherwise you risk a lot more than gaining "honour" in some fictional fan-boy mentality. Ask Gary Goodridge his opinion.

Also, the old-skool MMA mentality was a lot different to now, for almost every fighter. You have punch-drunk guys who might not have any back-up plan outside of throwing down in the cage, trying to tell current fighters that they should have the same attitude they had. Well, fuck your stupid ideas and fuck your call outs of current full time pro fighters. Times change. We are all individuals with different plans. If you think we should all adhere to your Neanderthal idiot thinking, then you're a fucking idiot too.

But but but but but he was gonna beat Luke like he stole something. Till death George.

I have no problem with tapping but don't talk some big game and then tap. Then it looks bad. Both GSP and Shogun are very respectful fighters. Branch was talking mad shit before the fight.

Not tapping out to strikes because the emotional principles of never giving up and showing heart override anything else.
But that means you place more importance on what other people think. If other people are like 'that dudes a tough SOB' for getting the shit kicked out of you.. meh. Then again if you come back from an ass kicking to win. That's admirable

Shogun never officially tapped because it was after the fight was over. Same thing with Big Nog/Mir 2. GSP and Branch both tapped 'during the fight'. Big difference there.

i a shogun fan but he not know it was not over yet. Shogun thought fight still going

Branch hasn't learned to give up his neck and give a rnc like many fighters do when they are ready to quit. Tapping to strikes looks really bad.

No one gives a shit what some pathetic wimp on Sherdog thinks. Most of them tap out when a girl walks into the room
