Thanks! I was surprised to not have seen sooner some videos of such a crazy moment. It is in fact the ministry of the government's spokesperson, Benjamin Griveaux, who has been nothing but a patronizing asshole. Fuck him.

The Ministry of Economy is in a big retro-futuristic building, where you can also find the equivalent of the IRS and related departments. It is a bit distant from where the demonstrations and riots usually happen. It would have been heavily guarded if it was closer.

The thing is, if the police ends up killing a demonstrator, it will get much, much, worst. Especially if the victim is a member of a minority. The boxer is a Gypsy, shooting him would spiral things into a whole world of retribution that would reignite the whole movement.

French anti-riot police has sting-ball grenades and nasty "rubber balls launchers" (don't know the exact English terminology). These guys were isolated and facing super angry demonstrators, they probably already used all the equipment they had.
