The Nordic countries, easily the best countries in the world, dominate top5 as usual.

1.Norway
2.Denmark
3.Iceland

14. Lousy and corrupt US.

"The rankings are based on gross domestic product per person, healthy life expectancy with four factors from global surveys. In those surveys, people give scores from 1 to 10 on how much social support they feel they have if something goes wrong, their freedom to make their own life choices, their sense of how corrupt their society is and how generous they are".

>Happiness rankings on 4 factors
>social support in case something goes wrong
>freedom
>corruption
>generosity
>tfw none of those are directly related to happiness

How is social support an indicator of happiness? If you have the mindset, "I'll do it on my own and I don't need and won't get anyone's help". Then succeed, does that make you less happy than someone who had it handed to them? Being self made is unhappiness? If you lived ina comfy cabin in the woods, It is assumed you are unhappy?

Generosity being an indicator of happiness is a long stretch. Everything is shared in a communist country, would you be happy to live in one of those?

That's quite the arbitrary definition of happiness.

Happiness doesn't necessarily follow any of those metrics....

thats what happens when you are an oil rich nation with a population of around 5 million

Norway are a shining light for every Scottish independence supporter..... they are showing us how we could live

social support can mean a lot of things, in Norway the government started an oil fund.... which directly benefits each citizen, that would count as social support

I would argue that freedom got a lot to do with happiness.

Those sound like nice places for "refugees" to migrate to and draw welfare from.

Unless you protect what you have and not go full Sweden.

Untrue, if you are well of you don't give a fuck if its Russia US or Dubai you live.

Being poor suck no matter where you are or how "free" you think you are.

Being well of correlates with freedom.

But the vast majority of the people in any country are not "well-off", which makes your point irrelevant. And there is a HUGE difference in being poor in Nordic countries vs being poor in almost anywhere else, because of the vastly different welfare system in said countries.

A small minority at best.

Yahh and most are miserable as fuck. All chasing some $$

You think a bum on the streets of norway tells him self, well at least I'm better of then a african bum. And then goes happily to sleep under the bridge.

Norwegian chicks are so fucking cool. Usually really hot with very little ego/attitude. Love me some Scandinavia, I only need to go to Iceland to complete the set, maybe later this year.

That's why I didn't really dispute that one

But 2/4 of the metrics are based on socialist ideals of a society. It's unsurprising that socialist countries rank highly on the list

That's a better placement than the WR would indicate though. Here we have such fragile people that get angry over things like that someone played a song they didn't like at a German Christmas fare. You'd think such things would be irrelevant to most German people, let alone to people that live across the Atlantic, but the anger was so great that it generated a long thread of upset posting.

Going by the report the average US citizen is most likely much happier than the people here.

i disagree

Feel free, but iv seem most miserable fam in the freest of times and happy as fuck under commis.

Freedom becomes hardly relevent when you live in abundance, while a starving bum would give up his freedom in a second for a house and a full fridge.

People who are close to their family and community are happier in general. Generosity obviously meaning being privately generous. You paying taxes and your government redistributing the money doesn't mean you support helping others out.

All of these things are correlated with happiness. If you are generous, have good family ties, are free to do what you wish, and live in corrupt-free society, you're probably a happy person.

I'm guessing corruption or at least perception of corruption and social support are the reasons we are at 14.

You have to be literally retarded to be a bum in Norway.
