my point was it seems that now days people automatically have a position on an issue without even hearing the issue. There is the left and the right on 95% of US issues.
the issue is is that there is often much more than two sides to any argument, yet we in the US are locked into an US vs them mentality.
currently neither side believes in a Win-Win situation. if one side wins the other HAS TO LOSE. the world is a complicated place and this is not true.
taking the middle doesn't mean not choosing your own opinion on an issue. it means that you actually look into issues that are important and can be "left wing" on some issues and "right wing" on others.
right now the polarization of american politics means it is very difficult to hold views that apply to both sides of the aisle even when comparing two non related issues.
