This question is only about pursuing free agents or fighters on the verge of free agency!!

UFC has been the premier mma org for what seems like always. They bought out the full rosters of competing orgs like Pride, wec, and strikeforce in the past.

Now with their biggest competition (bellator) trying to figure out what to do with its talent and roster why has ufc only signed mvp and Kyla? Why did they not make aggressive moves as bellator is being bought out by pfl? Why no plays at nemkov, pitbull, McKee etc?

Might have something to do with the class action lawsuit sir.

They're not out of contract and MVP and Kayla were.

1) they can’t pursue people who are under contract in other organizations. MVP and Kayla’s contracts had run out. Other PFL/Bellator talent are still under exclusive contracts with those promotions

2) The UFC model is to convince everyone that all the best fighters are already in the UFC. They don’t need to bring in top talent if it’s believed that anyone on the UFC roster is naturally better than anyone outside the UFC with only a few exceptions. Rather than the reality that there’s a ton of card filling roster clutter in the ufc that isn’t anything special

3) the ufc wants to be the star. They don’t want too big of star fighters. Everytime that’s happened lately (McGregor, Jones, Ngannou) the monster they created becomes too big for them to control and they don’t like that.

One word: Saudis

If they don't sign The Gooch then we'll know their death is imminent

They bought Pride, WEC, Strikeforce and inherited the signed fighters
Bellator has been bought by PFL, which inherited the signed fighters

Well summarized. That’s pretty accurate imo too.

This shift in business models of what it is today compared the let’s say the yanks of the old when they were the first org every potential star got signed to, will take a bit of digesting.

they have the brand loyalty and marketing skills to do what you are saying and do it well. Just Watch as Kyla and mvp go from being called one dimensional can crushers into worlds greatest at their specific skill sets now that ufc hype machine is behind em.

lol fucking ridiculous thread.

Bellator isnt (wasnt) competition to the UFC. Their existence is (was) predicated on the legality issues of UFC eating them like they did all other promotions before them, and Belllator not being worth buying.

MVP and Kayla coming to the UFC alone destroys the argument.

Why would they sign the highest paid PFL fighter after Francis if they are cutting fucking costs???

i don't believe the UFC is cutting costs, more like spend little and earn huge. DWCS is replacing TUF and the prospects are sent into a FN, the UFC is focusing on a brand rather than stars and anyone who is signed has to be a very hot fighter.

First off Bellator really is no more...secondly they just signed Kayla
