Nah they are not socialists. They are social democrats similar to Germany or other Nordic countries.
But I think Norway has an excellent child protective system. Of course, sometimes you have mistakes I am not familiar with the first case. But I can see the family spanked their children. That is illegal in Norway. They also seem to be religious nuts, but I can't say if it was justified to remove the children. It seems like a mistake they have corrected already. But saying they have just seized the children seems also wrong there was a reason to start investigating.
While it is, of course, tragic when children get unjust removed from a family. A few cases of those would still be preferable to the masses of case you have in other countries were the services not act at all.

In regards to those foster kids, that is something you see everywhere in the world. Norway is rather on the low end of mental issue for foster kids.
