The difference in striking is probably the biggest difference in a skill set between 2 fighters in all of MMA.

Like I said Asskren is still figuring out how not to spit his mouthpiece out and Conor just went 10 rounds with one of the all time greatest in boxing.

There's absolutely no way that Asskren gets within range of Conor without getting his skull smashed.

His TD and GnP ability will be significantly diminished after taking a left hand to the noggin. And you will see fear on his face and hesitancy to engage after that.

Mendes' boxing skills and speed are significantly better than Asskrens.
Those skills are what makes it even easier for a grappler to get the TD.

I understand, but swap "Nate" for "Askren", and you'd still be right. He's a big dude with a very good chin. He would not stay to trade with Conor, all it takes is a few minutes of "tenderizing" on the ground and Conor would gas.

Yes Nate is pillow fisted. That's why he was able to tag a gassed Conor with his best 1-2 and Conor didn't drop.
Using that as an example to diminish Conor's striking skills is ignorant.

I thought there were others...but yes, that fight...I remember he had a ton of trouble against that guy...and Hieron was never anything great in the ufc...

He had trouble with him because Hieron had great wrestling credentials and at that point in his career, Askren was still evolving. It was only Askren's 9th pro fight.... Hieron had 3x the experience when they fought, 26 pro fights. Hieron was on a longer win streak when they fought than Askren had pro fights..

Not to mention by the time of the fight, Hieron had beaten tough guys, Rick Hawn, Joe Riggs, Jesse Taylor (currently on UFC roster), Jake Ellenberger (currently on UFC roster), amongst others. Hieron came into the UFC with a 21-7 record at the age of 36, very much at the end of his career. Hieron was one of the toughest guys that Askren fought.

It was either One FC or one of the chump leagues like WSOF. I guarantee, Askren has made far more money fighting in One FC than he would anywhere else outside of Bellator or the UFC.

He wanted to get into the UFC, even offered to fight for free. Dana wasn't interested.

6 finishes against- you guessed it- nbobodies. A lot easier to find the finish when the competition is subpar.
