Akitas are one of my favourite breeds in terms of looks - I love the general look and how varied the colour scheme is with the breed. But something about them makes me nervous to be around them.

@Zookeeper Gabe

So I'm sitting in my backyard not looking at the sun. It makes me think of how crazy it is that there's this giant thing in the sky that basically provides all this life on Earth that we just can't look at. It's weird that we never evolved a trait to filter it out from our vision.

So now I'm wondering. Are there any animals besides this one I found below that can stare at the sun without serious risk to their vision?

Good god, it’s hideous...

So, pretty much all animals have some sort of adaptation to avoid it at all costs since it causes pho’s cal damage to look at the sun. Plenty of birds and giraffes have extremely long eyelashes to help protect them.

Petco sold LiveAquaria.com!

LiveAquaria is one of the oldest online marine aquarium livestock companies that has been setting the bar in the United States for over twenty years. Five years ago LiveAquaria was acquired by PetCo as part of the Drs. Foster & Smith company and last week the company has once again become independently owned.

edit: my NDA is probably no good anymore so screw it.
I’ve personally sold clownfish to them before Petco bought them out and they were awesome to deal with. They even had a marine biologist call and talk about my breeding methods. Back then the breeders weren’t really sharing their “secrets” so he helped me out tremendously.
They were a great company and I was scared when Petco bought them that they’d ruin LiveAquaria. I’m glad to see it out of their hands.
