Zabit Magomedsharipov went to Kung-Fu boarding school (Video)

So did Edmond.

That's kind of like going to a Sambo boarding school in Beijing. I'd be more impressed if his parents sent him to a real Shaolin temple to learn that stuff...

If he actually went to Shaolin, they'd waste his time with endurance exercises and they aren't exactly combat oriented, so he won't learn much when it comes to actual fighting. Not to mention this school actually functions as an actual school (math, literature, etc) alongside martial arts training whereas Shaolin is a Buddhism oriented school.

Video on Shaolin kung fu school

First clip of training is Salikhov training boxing with boxing gloves and boxing pads

Who said "Shaolin"? It's a Wushu school, and boxing gloves are part of Sanda/Sanshou.

That's a crazy ass up bringing. He is as close as we can get to a modern day Spartan.

Kind of telling that he almost called it a prison. Sadly, in that part of the world, parents must do what they can to keep their children away from the dangers of the streets. Like war lords n radical Muslims, that's a quote from him about y his parents sent him, not just an educated guess.

Yes, Khabib as well. Learned to walk in the gym, grew up with his father and his 16 brothers. Wrestling bears when he was 8.

Yes he was send away because he was getting in trouble.

Title of the video is
"Caucasian Shaolin: King of Kung Fu emerges outside China"

I thought you were referring to OP, or the first video. Yeah well the title is sensationalized on that news report. Not exactly Shaolin, just Wushu. Shaolin is the first thing that comes to mind when anyone says "kung fu" because of Cantonese films.

In Dagestan, whatever you do, you know the wrestling basics, wrestling is just such a huge part of the culture there.
I believe it. I was just saying that because people often think anything with fancy kicks is tae kwon do, when the reality is it comes from kung fu.

I decided to revive this post to remind people who Zabit is.

Ahead of todays fight vs Jeremy Stevens a lot of people talk about how Zabit is not up for the challenge and only fought bums etc. I just want to remind you of Zabit's background. This guy is raised to be a champion in very harsh conditions!

I'd watch an exploitation movie called Abe Lincoln Goes To Kung Fu Boarding School.

If he ever becomes a main event fighter in UFC or a champ, trust me they are going to make a promotional movie about this.

Knowing UFC and american's ability to hype stuff up:

(Dramatic music) (Morgan Freeman voice) "At the age of 6 a young boy was left in a secluded school in the mountains of Dagestan to be raised in the ways of the warrior"
