Your Bantamweight champion everyone

Maybe prize fighting...has become that way

But many Martial Art competitions are same day as the event weigh ins ...and nobody's cutting 25lbs to fight the same day...

So consider that... MIXED MARTIAL ARTS.. derives from Martial Arts where weight classes are actually followed... because its Honorable to do so...

But yet again Money had to ruin things...
Wtf is this shit, man? Since when did you start pissing and moaning about height? The last few months you’re not the same.

Who gives a fuck about what “other” MA do? This is how mma, and the UFC do it. So what in the flying fuck are you going on about?

You used to talk about training, and wanting to go pro. I would expect a “pro” or amateur for that matter to understand this. I’m getting a real short man vibe from you, now. Is that the issue? I saw you show interest when someone posted the new TUF is going to be FW, and MW. A MW would never complain about height.

So how about you cut down to FLW. It is NOT cheating. Then maybe you’ll be the “bigger guy”.

But knock this shit off. Your ranting is really lame as fuck, and you know it. Or maybe you don’t know it. But read the thread. EVERYBODY else knows it.

So yes, these fearless fighters that fight bigger opponents get extra credit but I also don't hold it against O'Malley for fighting at 135. He is obviously most effective at that division. He wouldn't be as successful at 145. And that's okay because combat sports have several weight classes and everyone must find the most suitable division.
Well put. you have to remember that there are monsters at 145 that are fuckin huge compared to O'malley. I can't see max vs O'malley going well, or a lot of these much bigger strikers like yair, edson, katter ect.

Who the fuck is talking about height?...u drunk old man.

Im talking about 135lbs meaning 135lbs..not 159lbs people ..like our current 159lbs bantamweight champion

Im proposing a rework of the system and making weight classes matter again like they do in many other martial arts...day of weight vs rehydrating non sense

People have weight variation during the day or during the week.

How do you propose we measure a fighters size taking this weight variability into account without removing as much water as possible (the strongest determinant of weight variation) ?

Let’s hear it smart guy

Same day weigh in..

Aint nobody cutting 20lbs plus if they gotta fight that evening...

Just like at your local wrestling meet and BJJ tournament and karate tournament..you weigh in mat side and then u go compete..dont make weight... u don't compete..

Simple

Be prepared for 1000 furious incel defenses of this guy

If you cant compete against guys your own height naturally , you should go find another sport to play

So Ignacio Bahamondes has to fight Sergei Pavlovich next?!

<{dayum}>

In a pure sporting sense, this is a great solution. Theoretically this would work well.

But in reality, the regulatory commissions and promotions utilize the weigh-in ceremony and process not only for properly calculating the weight, but also for media and putting in a replacement fighter if one doesn't make weight or weigh-in from medical issues etc.

Honestly, I would prefer weighing in as close to the fight as possible because it creates this weird variable in prize-fighting that has little to do with actual fighting.

Ya its greed fucking with things ,as always...

Day before weigh ins is a construct for business...nothing else...for show another set of tickets to be sold ..

Commissions have no issues with same day weigh ins... Just as long as people make weight and there's no mis matches...like i said it happens with most martial arts competitions already

The commonly stated reasoning behind the regulators wanting the day before weigh-ins is that they hold some liability for sanctioning fights and that fighters if not given enough time to re-hydrate will have increased chances for concussions and then brain injuries etc., so it's seen as a safety measure. This is assuming if you did the weigh-ins closer the fights then the fighters would still cut the water weight and then fight de-hydrated anyways, and that this is the true reasoning and not just everyone being in bed together for the $$$ etc. But this is what they say.

Hence why i said the weight classes should mean what they say... otherwise whats the point if u have a 155er as ur ,135 pound champion does that make sense to you. ? LOL...

Bro, both fighters weigh in at 135 within 2 hours of each other.

They are equals.

I can't believe we still have people using weight bully arguments and it's almost 2024.

What does your weight on friday morning , have to do with your weight on Saturday night...when your actually fighting

Why dont they just weigh in monday ... Then.. and fight the following Saturday ..

135lbs is supposed to mean the guys who are fighting are that size..

Not they weighed that yesterday

How can a 2007 account say something so dumb?

Well there you have it ...out the horses mouth

How can these guys say this with a straight face..fully admitting he fights small people cuz he cant hang with guys his own actual size ...

This weight cutting culture has got to go some how .. there must be a solution..

This dude is walking around over the LW limit and is fighting at 135lbs..

Come on man...have some dignity or honor ...

You know the whole PICK ON SOMEONE YOUR OWN SIZE thing. ..

I know..Sherdog be like but but but they all cut weight..or if he makes the weight then its allowed .

Pfft ..do better MMA world... Weight classes should actually mean what they say ... otherwise just remove em...

I agree in general that weight cutting is bullshit but lets not forget Sterling is such a big BW that he was going to move to FW because the cut was too hard

I'm a big time sugar shins hater but the guy makes the weight, what more do you want?

If the point of weight classes is to give a level playing field to fighters roughly the same size, then the current system is mostly pointless. The weigh ins occur 24 hours before the fight. Guys have gained 20+ lbs between weigh ins and fight night. Izzy claimed he gained 24 lbs at one point.

He makes the weight, and everyone cuts weight.
/thread

I appreciate sean for his honesty.

For all his visual flamboyance,he dont really try to pretend to be tougher than he is,nor is confrontational with other people. When shit hits the fan,he just reacts like a normal ass dude, which makes him relatable.

Instead of posturing when Cejudo made a drunken ass out of himself and challenged him,he was like "really, dude??"

hahah that was the best thing he could have done tbh

Thats not Sean's problem though
