You ever had real potential at sports or artistic endeavors?

I said '32' ( or 33 or whatever I was)
He said 'aaaaah! You missed your window'.
That left me a bit dejected thinking 'maybe that's what I was meant to be doing'. I don't think so as I lack a few traits for fighting.
Why would your age be a hindrance to your passion? You found it, grab it. I started training when I was already a father of 2.

Physical endeavours after 50 do not compare to your 20s

I'm an average writer with great ideas. I could have gotten better with a good script doctor.

I made 2 short films (one good, one absolutely horrible) and I'm finishing a graphic novel as we speak.

Nope. Completely mediocre house-league level athlete, and somehow an even worse artist.

Thank god I can read and write.

Thankfully 6'2, jacked, and rich in life.

I'm certain I could have been an elite world class tennis player or aerobics gymnast (look that sport up) but by the time I discovered my passion for them it was too late to start practicing at professional level. And the fact that there's so much money in elite tennis makes it even more unfortunate.

I am top 1-5% in basically all metrics and elite level with many lifts for my age of 46.

I started kickboxing at 34 and won 13 fights, trained with some world champs, a UFC heavyweight and did good. After I had a couple of opponents drop out last minute I decided the effect on family life of training camps for little reward wasn't worth it. So I became a family man instead.

I could have played American football for the UK. But again not really worth it. Too old now. I played some prem division ball when I was younger but didn't like the attitude of everyone playing as if it was for money makes things shit.

Currently I'm training Buhurt and plan to represent England next year or the year after. I have to prove myself first and am putting together my armour ATM but I've done alright in the first few bouts as I'm learning the discipline. The only reason I've gone down so far is my own mistakes, like bull rushing a dude into the list (barrier) which got pushed up and when it all came crashing back (unexpected to me) I lost my footing. Another time it was because it was 2 on 1 and I was fucked after about 4-5 bouts, first time in armour on a v hot day.

I think I have a few years being able to fuck shit up in that.

Not much artistic effort, was in a band doing vocals and had fun, but again too much time from family life.

What was my fault? Not believing I had physical talent and starting everything late in life.

Yes

I could have been a triathlete or a marathon runner.. my natural cardio is ridiculous. But I chose lifting weights and fighting and put 45 pounds in my adulthood so there you go.

Music wise I could play a lot of really complicated things on guitar (started at 12 and played a lot until 18.. now just a little) but I had zero ear. Funny enough I developed a better ear way later in life.

Oh.. and I was also really really good at maths at a younger age. They put me in the maths olympics and made it to the national semi finals without studying. Im still convinced I could have won the entire thing with some effort.
Years of hanging out in the streets and public education made me dumber but more sociable but dumber.

I was a young dad. I'm still in my mid-40s and competed at adults division(18-29 yrs old) in my mid-30s. This wasn't mid-life crisis.
Kudos! I'm a 42 year old black belt and still compete int he 18-29 year old div. I'm not trying to be the best old person at bjj.

I was part of an interschool relay once.

My sprint speed was good but my transition with the baton was godawful, so I was never invited back.

I wasn't exactly encouraged by anyone, to do anything.

Yes. I used to train ufc a lot with some friends and i got good, really good. I ended up beating like 25 people in a row at our gym fight nights. Dana White and Joe Rogan came and visited me and told me if i win a few more then im going to get signed for like 2 million per fight. What my coach didn't tell me i was fighting as an amateur so I had a 0-0 record. Even though I beat Amir Soddalah's brother Rick.

I got mad at my coach and left. He would go on to tell Dana and Joe that and Mike Goldberg too he told him as well that i was wanking in the gym showers. Pretty much ruined my MMA career. I would go on to focus on crypto currency and taking care of my mom and dad who live with me in their house. I also collect non sports trading cards.

I was fairly good at BMX racing in my teens/20's. Got flowed parts/support from some companies but never made any money from it. I have some good friends that were pros for years and made a good living but I could never quite reach their level. In these action sports industries like BMX, snowboarding, and skateboarding a lot of sponsorships are about who you know. The list of dudes I've ridden with over the years who are insanely talented that can ride the fuck out of their bike never get a shot because they were never introduced to the right people is a mile long. If you live in LA, San Diego, Austin, or central Florida you're more likely to get noticed because many of the brands that make BMX goods have their headquarters in these areas. They sponsor events, the pros live in those towns, and so they don't have to go far to scout talent.

I'm 40 now, I still ride on the weekends and again, I'm fairly good and not just for my age. I have a chronic autoimmune condition that keeps me off my bike from time to time but I still try to be consistent when I'm feeling well enough.

I made a really nice assist in Beer League hockey last Friday night.

I don't think we had relay at my school. I was freakishly tall for my age with long legs so sprrinting and all the jumping and hurdling I was always good at but don't remember relay.

Won Gold medals in Bike racing and Sprinting, had trials for a PL soccer team and have played with many professional players before and during them being pro's, was a period of time between like 14-16 where I was being talked about by my Basketball coaches aiming for the future olympic Bball team.

I haven't done any of the those activities in years, my commitments and support network mostly sucked and these days I can barely walk up the stairs without being out of breath :(
