You can barely talk to doctors anymore

Sorry about that OP. It's all about profits for them. Doctors have metrics (instructed by the company). I think the goal is only to only interact with patients for only 10 minutes max. It's insane. Plus don't forget, they'll prescribe drugs (that you can end up taking forever) that they make money from. Don't trust them 100%, especially prescriptions.
That’s not true at all. Most GP’s are under contract and make the same whether prescribe no meds or many meds. It’s the quality metrics they get bonuses for such as a target number of their patients have their colonoscopy and mammograms.

For better or worse, patients now have more information of various degree of accuracy even before they talk to doctors. And doctors still practice like patients will listen to everything they say with no push back.

Agreed. They hope to process your copay and get you out fast so they can get someone else’s copay.

It’s not entirely their fault. It’s the insurance industry that has killed the r idea that a doctor and patient might actually have any type of relationship. But also, doctors are part of the problem. Many of the doctors I have seen just seemed like assholes who went to med school simply because they could, and they wanted to make money or impress their family or both.

I’ve had some decent doctors too. But I have had enough bad experiences with doctors and dentists that it just makes me never want to go.

I have a great doctor and feel lucky about that. She's good and attentive. I can get an appointment in 2-3 days if it's a bit more urgent.

I'm speaking specifically about doctors having a financial incentives to push drugs. THAT was worse in the 90s. Far worse. Viagra was genuinely a miracle drug, but doctors were given vacations, lavish meals, golf outings... anything and everything the reps could write off in exchange for pushing it. Today those reps can't put a tissue box with the brand name on it in the doctor's lobby.

And yes, more people are taking more drugs, but that's not inherently wrong unto itself. The largest generation of human beings ever produced is now in their 60s and 70s and some have real problems that require medicine. Also more drugs are available to treat more conditions. In 1981 there were 0 drugs to treat RLS. Today there are 16 suited to the needs of different patients. That's a lot more people on meds, but it's not a bad thing. No one is abusing Sprycel or Yervoy and no doctor is perscribing those casually to patients that don't need it.

Certainly the opiod epidemic still looms over healthcare but even in the midst of it most doctors were attempting to screen for drug seeking behavior and adicts were seeking out a hand full of pill mills. Trying to hang that on the whole industry profiteering just wouldn't be accurate.
I heard that in the US, we take more drugs than any other country and rank 46th for average lifespan. That's pathetic.

Those pills are garbage. High quality organic diet is the ultimate key to health but it's bad for business which is all that modern healthcare is, prioritizing profits over people.

My current PCP thinks its some kind of migraine and she's giving me 2 prescriptions

I got a problem with moving my eyes. It gives me eye strain fast and makes me dizzy. Like reading something. A book or a post. Also when there's movement. Like i'm watching a movie or something. It could just be in the corner of my eye but it still bothers me. That and increased emotions, anxiety and panic attacks.

Sadly, doctors forfeited the medical industry to lawyers, the insurance industry, and accountants long ago. It has cut their earnings, increased their workload, and reduced their care options.

They really should add some business classes to Medical School or undergrad study.

Have you visited a psychiatrist for your anxiety?

There are many pwrks like conferences in Hawaii for you and you family that pharmaceutical companies offer.

Cash under the table is also an option in some cases..

Ignore the prescription advice, always take double and both at the same time with rum and pineapple juice on an empty stomach........ Any stomach upsets, just keep going, likewise if your skin goes yellow its just the pineapple juice........

The countries that rank above us for lifespan have universal healthcare, a better social safety net overall, and strict regulations on their food supply.

There's more to lifespan than healthcare. No amount of bedside manner will fix a stressful job with no PTO and McDonald's for lunch 4x a week.

Steve Jobs tried to treat pancreatic cancer with green tea, juice, and accupuncture. Turns out those are not very effectvie cancer treatments.

I'm all for eating healthy, getting enough rest, hydrating properly. Those are excellent ways to maintain your health. But when that fails and you become ill, or if you have an actual medical condition, broccoli isn't going to fix it. People with schizophrenia need pills, not brown rice.

People have way too much trust in doctors. I have come to know that most doctors are not very good and do not care.

I have an Indian doctor and his diagnosis over the years have been ridiculous, and he's never been right about anything. Because of that, I started researching illnesses and learning more about signs and symptoms to diagnose myself. Now I just tell the doctor what it is, and ask for the appropriate tests for confirmation. I can't rely on these people who don't care or understand symptoms.

Recently my girlfriend had lung issues, and when she described it to me, I told her it sounded like pneumonia. She went to the doctor who misdiagnosed her and put her on an Inhaler. I told her to go back and ask for a chest x ray. Turns out it was pneumonia and then she received antibiotics. Doctors in my experience are mostly idiots.

So have you given your self an autism diagnose yet?

Schizophrenia is directly linked to diet. Those pills treat only symptoms and every study touting their efficacy is funded by pharma. This is why pharma controls the food supply in the US through Monsanto wheat, corn, and soy. Monsanto is owned by Bayer who is the parent company of Pfizer. It's a really great racket they have going. They poison you with GMO crops saturated in round up weed killer and atrazine and then they 'treat' the resulting symptoms with harmful drugs. So you pay them for the poison and the fake 'cure'

I'm on my lunch. I'll add some more details to this and how cancer centers specializing in a natural homeopathic approach have been shut down by big pharma in the name of public safety. Not at all unlike their attempts to label all criticism of their myocarditis/stroke jab as misinformation. They are liars and murderers and will ultimately be exposed for the scoundrels they are.

On my lunch break, have to go back to work.

That's why I've decided to just never get any serious illness or injury, ain't nobody got time for that.

Sucks you had that experience, OP. I've always received at least 15 minutes or so of attention.

So if you don´t trust doctors, who are you going to take advice? Not from Rich Piana right, because he, you know....?
