News Yan vs O'Malley UFC 280, October 22

This may be Suga's way of saying he doesn't have the grappling skills too legitimately earn a title shot fighting elite BWs so he is instead opting for a "punchers chance" against the best striker in the UFC.

After seeing how uncomfortable Sean was in the first round against Pedro he realistically likely doesn't have anymore than a 10-15% chance of winning if even that.

He should have chased that Chito rematch.

That's an interesting take and I could see that being the reaction after the fight depending on the outcome.
If Yan doesn't run through him like he's expected to or doesn't get a finish, people might give more credit to O'Malley for being "competitive" with a former champ instead of giving it to Yan for getting the win.

However, I get why Yan took this fight since he wants to get back in the cage and most of the top 15 are already booked(which is awesome).
The win won't get him a TS, but it'll give some momentum if he manages to get O'Malley out of there quick.
Tbh I'm more surprised Sean took it since this is a very difficult matchup for him.

There's also an opportunity for Yan to be a replacement fighter against TJ if Aljo were to pull out of that fight, but idk about that.

If Yan gets hurt at all in this fight standing Suredawg will troll the shit out of him and his fans. If it goes to a decision, O'Malley himself will troll that he was winning the fight and his supporters here will parrot it just as much. There's no way this fight isn't lose/lose for Petr, which is why he deserves all the respect in the world - which he should already have for being as great as he is, as well as a pro fighter - for fighting this far down. It will undoubtedly change the perception of Yan for the worse around here to a degree and to casuals if he doesn't run through Sean like a hot knife through butter.

Then again, he must really want to fight and get back on a winning streak to earn another title shot sooner rather than later.

As for Sean, he's taking a very difficult fight but by doing this, he can distance himself from Munhoz while claiming he was winning and Pedro quit, since our attention span is minimal and try to up his stock here. Anything positive he does in this fight is relatively unexpected, regardless of the guys who will bump these threads if he somehow wins. Even they don't really believe that. They're just part of the I Told You So Brigade.

UFC match making is horrendous
Guy loses title fight by split decision and fights #13 in the rankings? The fuck is that?
I know other people are booked the UFC needs to do better with their shitty match making

Massive mis-match. Yan wins every round 10-8.

Won’t believe this until the UFC announces it. O’Malley saying it on his own means nothing yet — might just be trying to pressure Yan into taking the fight. Which he probably won’t, considering Yan is ranked #1 and O’Malley is #13.

Big O’Malley fan here, but I don’t like his chances. Besides, I thought it was not too long ago that he was saying he was content to fight lower-level guys?

yan doesn't duck fighters. and I'm sure yan will welcome the chance to beat the shit out of omalley

280 shaping up nicely.

That emirad money.

But back to the point, Yan is the heavy favorite here.

Yan's movement is going to give sean problems. I understand the size difference, but i doubt o'malley will be able to target him like he has with others. Not to mention Yan is probably going to be blasting that leg the entire match

Yan can be the backup for the title fight so this is great.

Size difference can potentially make a huge difference. Love Yan but It wouldn't surprise me.

Matchmakers be like:
