News Yan vs O'Malley UFC 280, October 22

If it’s a 3-round fight, this will be closer than people expect. Yan doesn’t know how to control the pace of a fight. He could throw away 2 rounds without even realizing it.

O’Malley will have to fight much better than he did in his last fight, though. He looked very ordinary for that entire match.

Once again, just top notch matchmaking. UFC is really outdoing itself here this week. At least this will be a fun fight I guess. But what does a win do for Yan?

Did not expect this one. But I guess Yan really has noone else to fight right now with the entire damn division booked.

So we'll see what O'Malley is made of finally.

See if they wanted to sell kamzat vs diaz then all they needed to do was add this. Leaning sean gets his ass beat, but that's one worth watching.

Fucking love it!

Exposure to a casual fanbase. Little guys can use all the extra marketing they can get.

Now this would actually make up for that shitty Nate Diaz fight! I would watch my eyes out of my brain for this fight!
So excited! Even though it probably will be a jin and jang beatdown with certain losers.

I'd give as much chance to Molly beating Yan within 2, as Yan beating Molly within 3-5.

Purely because accuracy and estabishing range. Yan is aggressive and will get countered. I don't see Shooga ever holding the belt but his accuracy is absolutely beautiful and top level.

Otherwise I see Shawn's legs taking significant punishment beyond 2.

I'd expect a Yan side control/hammerfist ref stoppage win.

Also, UFC 280 is staaaaaacccked.

Dude you don’t go from poking Pedro in the eyes to fighting Yan. That’s way till big of a step up lol.

Im a big omalley fan and I would definitely like to see him work his way through the rankings a bit more

Lose/Lose for Yan.

If O’Malley has one iota of success it'll be considered a win for him. Yan is taking all the risk here. Still, I respect the hell out of Yan for taking on a guy who isn't top ten and giving him a shot, while also putting his money where his mouth is. The guy will legitimately fight anyone it seems.
That's an interesting take and I could see that being the reaction after the fight depending on the outcome.
If Yan doesn't run through him like he's expected to or doesn't get a finish, people might give more credit to O'Malley for being "competitive" with a former champ instead of giving it to Yan for getting the win.

However, I get why Yan took this fight since he wants to get back in the cage and most of the top 15 are already booked(which is awesome).
The win won't get him a TS, but it'll give some momentum if he manages to get O'Malley out of there quick.
Tbh I'm more surprised Sean took it since this is a very difficult matchup for him.

There's also an opportunity for Yan to be a replacement fighter against TJ if Aljo were to pull out of that fight, but idk about that.

Shaping up to be the best card of the year on paper.

Abu Dhabi blessing our bum lives. The UFC is indebted to those guys because they pay out the ass to get those cards booked there and those are good people to have as friends monetarily. I will take the day off for this card, lol.

I wonder if all the new age casuals will swing the betting lines towards O'Malley?

I'm guessing most of the rainbow haired contingent aren't gamblers, but worth keeping an eye on
