Being able to use rechargeable batteries is something that will always give the Xbox controller a leg up on the competition, though the PS5’s is definitely more hi-tech, you could say. Though I don’t really care for the extra tech they use. Hell, I turn off vibration, so all the extra stuff they added, I don’t care about.

Never have to wait with rechargeable batteries, and they are not expensive. Would pass on the proprietary packs for the controllers, as they are only good for that. The batteries have use throughout your life. I use them for everything, and had the same 8, with two charging stations, for about a decade. 30 bucks for a decade of use is a pretty great investment in my eyes.

in the major uk retailers a dualsense costs 59.99, at most 64.99 for a red one

xbox controller with an official charge kit comes to 74-75, and that's before adding the haptic rumble pak ;)
The Xbox Series X controller is £49.99, and the dual rechargeable lithium ion batteries from Moga are £14.99:

Where do you Brits buy your controllers? I don't know the UK market as well. I couldn't find the DualSense that cheap. Amazon UK sucks, obviously.

@Madmick

Argos, Game, Currys/PC World are the top dogs which the general public will flock to, they all do the xbox for 54.99, or 59.99 for the upcoming new colour

dualsense is an official sony product so it's only fair to compare apples to apples, official charge kits go for 19.99 here so you're 74-75 all in

I just mentioned that the Moga products I linked are officially sanctioned Xbox accessories. It's apples to apples.

I saw that Argos has the plain black DS5 for £60.

So, for £5 more, with Xbox, you get 2xAA batteries, and 2 x 1100 mAh rechargeable lithium-battery packs. That doubles your battery cycles, but it also means you can charge one while playing with the other, and therefore hot swap.

@Madmick so it's still dearer with an unofficial charge kit, as argos' cheapest xbox combo comes to 69.98, a tenner more, or a fiver more than the red dualsense

when xbox release a next gen controller they should just include the charge kit and put all this to bed, and i'd like to leave this here myself lol

The way Microsoft did it makes the most sense. It offers choice.

That's why in their primary market, the USA, they're offering considerably more for considerably less, and even in their weaker markets (such as Japan or Europe), they'll be offering considerably more for only slightly more. You also don't have to buy two controllers to always have one charged and ready for wireless couch play at a distance.

i did already say i get why people like the setup and if i hadn't got my ps5 in a bundle with an extra controller i'd pick one up, or look at buying aftermarket charge kits like xbox

disagree on more for less though, it's a basic controller, same old same old. i read something here about them considering releasing something to match up to the ps5 pad so even microsoft knows it
