Yeah, X-Men being an backdrop for the civil rights movement is well established.
But apparently every activist LOVES comparing itself to the civil rights movement.
Do you really want this X-Men '97 series to be in-your-face with activism beyond backdrops of the Civil Rights Movement?
Should the X-Men be attacking animal shelters? Factory farming? Shutting down factories polluting the environment and causing climate change?
I could go into more specific politics for ridiculous 'modern issues,' but lets set a baseline for stupidity.
I got busy so I couldn't continue that line of discussion, StoneCold, but yeah, I haven't bought any Marvel comics for multiple reasons, but I have flipped through some at the comic book store.
1st - They increased their prices to $4 an issue. I can go see a movie for nearly that much, instead of an issue I read once and it takes me 15 minutes max.
2nd - They're not worth reading again.
3rd - The quality of art has fallen downhill dramatically, and they've purposely and obviously made female characters ugly.
Tokenization -
Black female Iron Man
Asian Hulk
Muslim Miss Marvel
Black/Latino Spider-Man
Female Captain America
Apparently Marvel lacks the talent to create new and original characters, so they get tokenized characters in as the 'New' [loved superhero]!
Oh, you don't like it? You want the old character back? Well you're racist/sexist/bigot/homophobic/islamophobic/transphobic...
...meanwhile, their most popular tokenized character, Miles Morales, sales are so horrible the best-selling recent issue is a What-If (non-canon) plot if he had become another tokenized character.
To that issue's credit, that was 19th on last month's sales chart. But every issue with a #1 has a spike in sales, look at where the other Miles Morales issues are on the chart.

117. Miles Morales Spider-Man #36
Look at his sales rankings in comparison to other Spider-man titles in the same month.
5. Carnage #1
7. Amazing Spider-Man #93
9. Amazing Spider-Man #91
11. Spider-Gwen Gwenverse #1
13. Venom #6
14. Amazing Spider-Man #92
20. Venom Lethal Protector #1 (Of 5)
23. Amazing Spider-Man #92.1 Beyond
83. Amazing Spider-Man #90 (Resolicitation)
88. Devil’s Reign Spider-Man #1 (Of 3)
93. Spider-Woman #20
105. Ben Reilly Spider-Man #3 (Of 5)
110. Savage Spider-Man #2 (Of 5)
My point? Tokenized characters are not popular amongst... everybody. So don't bother playing the 'racist' card, unless you'd like to explain how you'd be cool with a white Black Panther.
BTW, have you guys read any Manga? They're really capitalizing on American comics sales completely collapsing. Look at their projected sales numbers up to 2030.
