WW evolution from late 00s to now

Whatever just keep arguing.. Usman and Fitch were completely different fighters like Kobe and Jordan were different ballers.

I don't even know what you're trying to say here. I just reiterated my opinion that Fitch, Alves and Koscheck of 2008 would beat a few guys in the top 10 at WW of 2020 and said that you shouldn't assume what people think about topics they haven't voiced an opinion on; I didn't say how I thought GSP would do but you assumed I would say that GSP would run through Usman, Colby and Wonderboy even though I didn't give my opinion on those match ups at all. Have a good day.

If today's fighters are significantly bigger, are they as legit? Someone could argue they are fighting below their appropriate weight class.

Both of those guys you mentioned are fantastic posters. They are what I consider to be "power posters", dropping facts and credible info on a consistent basis without location bias. This is our first interaction and I can already tell I won't be saying this about you in future posts.
Stop you might hurt his feeling " power poster" lol

Look at how the sport has evolved especially this particular division. Not one of these guys would be even top 10 today aside gsp whom I would put 5 or 6 today. The athletes are just bigger Stronger and better.

Honestly twood today is not even top 20 he doesn't belong on the top 10 list after the way he has lost his last 3 fights. Other than him, its a no brained. Vincent luque would run thru that entire 2008 roster maybe even including gsp and he's 11th including the champ.
So if usman runs thru the division he has to be considered ww goat just based on level of comp.

1: Georges St. Pierre
2: Thiago Alves
3: Jon Fitch
4: Matt Hughes
5: Josh Koscheck
6: Diego Sanchez
7: Karo Parisyan
8: Chris Wilson
9: Matt Serra
10: Akihiro Gono

2020 rankings

Champion Kamaru Usman 17-1
1 Colby Covington 16–2
2 Gilbert Burns 19–3
3 Leon Edwards 18–3
4 Jorge Masvidal 35–14
5 Stephen Thompson 15–4–1
6 Tyron Woodley 19–6–1
7 Demian Maia 28–10
8 Michael Chiesa 17–4
9 Neil Magny 24–7
10 Vicente Luque 19-7-1
How does this posting align with your Sherdog account handle?

The division is light years ahead of the division of 2000’s and yet the crazy part is Khamzat is on its way to run through the division of today

Imagine thinking any of this is real. Gotta make shit up entirely cause you can’t even troll right
So koschek didnt go 2-8 including the gsp fight and get finished in 6 of those losses. One of those wins was an absolute robbery against mike pierce.

@bjpenngoat will you leave the salt and hate in this year or will you continue to do this in 2021?

I honestly don't hate gsp at all. I met him 9 years ago he was nice as hell to me. He was at the Fedor bigfoot fight and he was literally super nice to everyone. The guy is a gentleman and one of the greatest ambassadors of the sport ever. With that being said I have to be objective about his career and I don't think he is the goat or a goat at all. He had a nice career beat a lot of average guys and I just didn't find him exciting or particularly great at anything. My issue is more with the fanatics here who descend on any discerning thread that critiques his career as if it is taboo to even mention any critical analysis. They call it trolling, I call it discourse.

So you mention the Pierce fight but don't mention that Koscheck should have a win over Hendricks, that's not at all weird. Also why are you judging fighters at a specific point in time(2008) based on fights that had not happened yet?(you're judging how good 2008 Koscheck is based on mostly 2012-2017 fights)

To be fair, GSP was a monster until after the Fitch fight, and was almost always looking for the finish.

His resume and accomplishments are grossly overrated by his psychotic fanbase here, though, and they absolutely rage shit their pants anytime anything they see as "negative" towards him is stated. They have an undying desire to blindly defend anything he's ever done and exaggerate the shit out of it, and will go to extreme lengths to do so. Most won't even acknowledge facts or stats, or pretty much anything that is said, they instead opt to go with ad-hominem or fighter bashing the few guys who did it better than GSP. It's truly baffling, yet....is normal.

I simply illustrated the difference in level.of comp at a specific time in the sports history (2008) as opposed to 2020. The dissection of records that predate 2008 and conversely follow the date are part of a larger discussion revolving around career totality.

No you're not, you're judging how good 2008 Koscheck is based on fights that mostly happened between 2012-2017. If you want to be honest in your comparison and say the competition level has gone up you can but that's not what you are doing.

Hate to admit it, because I'm not a Khamzat fan (yet).. But guys like Khamzat, Colby, and Usman push an incredible pace, even compared to WW's of less then 10 years ago..

Even Dan Hardy got a title shot in GSPs weak era. Matt Serra got a title shot after a split decision win after two loses
Shit happens when you crush everyone in the division. If GSP didn't retire i probably would have had 2 matches with him by now.

OK that's fair. I did critique alves and not kos. So I'll go ahead and do that.
He beat Diego good win
Lytle good win Chris is very underrated was a tough dude.
Dustin Hazlett
Yoshida
Blanketed No TDD Daley
Emaciated machinist level rumble
Walking rear naked loss Trigg

These are basically all his wins. Is this a champion ship contender resume? And this was the 3 guy in Georges era.
