Social WTF Elon ????????????????

Yeah it's an ineffective subway
Cars using those tunnels would beess efficient than a subway or even a regular car tunnel. Seems slow and dumb. Saw the video and 50 mph and a low volume of cars plus a 40 sec elevator ride means nothing to LA traffic

The "but wait there's more!" gag only goes so far, or maybe not since our country is dumb as rocks.

From the person that posted a very long "what about" rant. You clearly have a bug up your ass about Musk. Jealousy is an ugly beast.

I do have a bug up my ass about him. My argument has legs and he, by all accounts, is a pretty shitty dude. If Tesla fired Musk I'd give them a standing a ovation, but they've done the opposite and continue to let him run a propaganda machine. You're sitting here calling me ugly while defending a dude who literally made up a fake submarine story and then called an actual rescue team member a :eek::eek::eek:phile. Twilight zone morality and shows how powerful his kool-aid is to those who like flashy videos and cute stories about futurology.

WTF is "efficient" about:

1) commuting to a subway station (could be a 5 minute walk or 1 hour uber)
2 ) waiting 15 minutes for a train to arrive which then drops you off 2-3 blocks from your destination
3) commuting from subway station to your destination (again 5 minute walk or 30 minute uber)

or

Call self-driving uber which picks you up in front of your house and drops you off in front of your destination. Utilizes special lanes/tunnels that allow for traffic avoidance.

Trains are stupid.

Dude what are you smoking?
Current transport systems are more efficient than you're describing in actual cities around the world. Your commute times are completely fucked. Where do you live/work?

If we have selfdriving cars WE WONT NEED RETARDED TUNNELS BECAUSE YOU WONT HAVE TRAFFIC BECAUSE PEOPLE WON'T ALL OWN CARS AND/OR CRASH THEM, THUS REDUCING CONGESTION.

Train are stupid if the network is not right.
Watch the video, I don't see how save for a few rich people, that this would save time for the general public.
Uber or self driving cars will still create traffic. This won't go far in relieving that

Honestly I feel like scooter tech/motorized compact vehicles combined with reasonably placed public transit is the real winner long term. If you can have a weather-protected lane(s) devoted to these and/or get them moving autonomously, then so few people will need cars or only rent them for trips.

I feel like more and more people don't drive around.

lol the dude couldn't even finish the concrete properly and had to apologize for a bumpy 50mph ride.
Comparing the cost of boring an empty tube with a rail in it is laughable compared to the civil engineering of a functioning public tunnel run with regulated light, power, finishing etc...

Musk sat around giving nonsense tours to all the major media outlets of a halfbaked hole because this is his advertisement. You realize most car companies spend over a billion dollars a year of ads right? BMW does 2-3 billion a year in ads and they have a paper value right now LOWER THAN TESLA. Hundreds of thousands of dollars are earned every time a Public Relations person at a car company can land this type of coverage. It's worth far more than the cost of the tunnel. This "make bricks" thing is effing hilarious too because of how desperately he is grasping at the Henry Ford charcoal comparison (the precursor to Kingsford Charcoal). What is this...the 20th different fake product/idea he has floated while still figuring out how to build cars?
It's because CBS or NBC has zero reason to come to give him free coverage if he doesn't have a zany stunt to show off. If there was simply progress toward making a high range battery, or improved software, or autonomous driving upgrades, all of which cost hundreds of millions or billions to develop, they'd have no excuse to put stuff on social media because people are dumb as shit and can only digest so much technical data but love videos of stuff that looks cool. Instead he can piece together a series of promotions using a few million here and a few million there.

Kids trapped in a cave getting worldwide coverage while I'm on a trip to China? Spend a million outsourcing a sub design to a random company and then claim credit for it: https://www.times-standard.com/2018/07/06/wing-inflatables-assisting-with-thai-soccer-team-rescue/

He is a marketing genius on the level of his idol Edison. Tesla produces quality cars that the public wants. The company is still evolving, learning and growing. Tesla has the legacy auto manufacturers worried. The Gigafactory in Nevada is expanding while producing.

Why the hate?

Lol hold up....you're comparing Musk's marketing acumen to Edison...who used his marketing acumen to...beat out the genius and genuine passion of Nikola Tesla such that one ended in failure because of lack of financial backing for society-minded products that didn't have consumer demand?
Do you not see the contradiction at hand?

And that's completely discounting the disconnect in actual inventions comparing edison and musk.

An you are a person spending his time on Sherdog, complaining about a person actually trying to change the world.
LOL thanks for proving my point: he has cult following among people who are convinced he is a world saver, and those people (you) ignore explicit examples of him being a wanker con. Once again: Space research and electric car research are a good thing and the average American is too stupid to differentiate between a hype-beast-industrialist and the difficult task of creating mass-adoption of questionably-profitable tech advancements.

It has zero to do with my accomplishments in life (I'd be happy to measure up total hours of charitable work done or money raised if you wanna start a pissing contest like McMann did)

Look at this insane gaslit Fox Business piece on him for example:

The narrator says "take a step back and analyze what he has really done..." then immediately credits the Boring company for having a workable products. It's like...what wrinkle of existential space time fabric have I found myself in where this tunnel qualifies as a success business and is being endorsed as such by someone on a major business show under the notion of critical analysis?

I lived outside of Tokyo for 6 years and didn't have s car the whole time. Rented a car a few times. Before we moved was going to join a car rental program that had a parking lot nearby.
Having s good rail system eliminates like 70% of your need for cars.
Problem about scooters is when it's cold it's rough to tide them. Just uncomfortable
Autonomous cars will help but they aren't the magic bullet people think they'll be

Tesla actually invented stuff though.
It's a shame the 'real' Tesla never had the financial backing from taxpayers. Imagine what else he could have accomplished (and he wouldn't have died in poverty).

Unreal levels of idiocracy.
The guy is basically shilling for his cars again.
Most car companies spend tens of millions on advertisements. He spends tens of millions of ridiculous spectacle ideas to get the media talking about him for free and the consumer is left thinking they're watching the future instead of an ad. Instead of actually focusing on what his products are, people are just slightly too dumb to understand the underlying principles he is talking about, but applaud his confidence. Frankly it's almost Trumpesque; the guy is a master of playing the masses.

At the end of the day he sells luxury cars.

He also regularly lands rockets on ocean barges so they can be re-used, builds battery banks that prevent brown-outs of entire regions of Australia, and drove the electric vehicle industry forward at break-neck speed.

again a total fairtytale.
Ever heard of a Prius?
It's like saying Nick Woodman invented the handheld camera and without him we'd never have action cameras (founder of GoPro). Same shit: rich kid with rich parents, able to hype their idea to wealthy people who can afford it, then claim they had a unique vision.

Where can I go buy an electric Prius?

Oh look another fanboi without research skills.
Toyota partnered with Panasonic also known as Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. in 1996 for the first hybrid/EV battery project between the two. They took on further stake in the 2000s.
Guess which company has propped up Tesla's battery needs for the last decade? Wheel of Fortune Time: _A_AS_N_C

People listen to Musk and use their imaginations to fill in the gaps because it FEELS GOOD and yes, we all want it to be true. I want to go to Mars and live forever and have my dog never die too, but it's just not happening in one grand sweep by letting this dude pretend he is magic.

Elon Musk has not personally contributed a single patent or lab test to the advancement of battery research or chemical engineering of energy storage (he has generalized patents about connecting devices to the internet, but his technical skills on advanced mechnical/chem/material engineering are overblown by a huge factor). I take my hat off to the brilliant people who have actually spent time in labs and doing field tests for this shit, working with dangerous chemicals, with little tangible fame to show for it. https://www.industryweek.com/companies-amp-executives/toyota-boosts-ties-matsushita
