Americans: Isn't it sad that the Chinese don't know about the Tiananmen Square Massacre?
Also Americans: Ugh, can we not talk about slavery?

Any American condescending about other people's knowledge of their country's history and world history generally can eat a fatty. I am definitely much more informed about American history and world history than the vast majority of Americans, and I regularly feel like a ignoramus when I see how much people from Europe and Asia know about history.

Anyone have experience here with like Helix or Nectar mattresses and shit?
I have 2 Zinus mattresses and frames/headboards. A queen for myself and a Full for a guest room. I sleep pretty comfortably on mine, and I get compliments on them whenever I have a guest. Great value for the price. PM me if you want details.

I think that once a group of people get it in their heads that the media is out to get them, it is impossible to dig out of the hole because there is a massive stream of media content and an almost unlimited number of ways to be offended. That's happened to a lot of the hardcore right, and it's also happened to Bernie fans. I think if bowling fans got it in their minds that the MSM was trying to undermine the popularity of bowling, they'd be able to come up with a long list of links to support that claim--so long that they'd laugh to themselves if anyone challenged the narrative. Likewise, if bowling haters believed that the MSM was trying to promote bowling, they could also be totally convinced.
Well what else can you conclude when only two publications (the NYT and the goddamn Washington Examiner) are the only ones to paint his Iowa speech in a negative light? If you look at the photos and videos from the event, it is clear that the narrative of "failing to connect" is a total fabrication.

Granted, the article itself is more nuanced and paints a picture of a man who champions ideas over interpersonal rapport. But as I've said, the tweet has a bigger influence on the general public than a lengthier article so each word matters more.

Does anyone have mattress recommendations for back sleepers who run hot?

I was told to get a foam mattress since I'm a back sleeper, but I also am very hot natured, so now I wake up super sweaty from having sunk into the mattress.

I was looking specifically at the Nectar or Helix as they state at least in most reviews that both are on the "firmer" side while also staying cool which is great for an over-sized side sleeper like myself.

I guess I was more curious that if the hype of a "mattress in a box" was warranted or not.

There's a company that makes a mattress that comes with like it's own A/C unit now but is pretty pricey (for me at least).

Have you ever slept on a memory foam mattress? That's basically all it is.

EDIT: Can't say about the other brands, but mine turned out pretty well. FWIW, I'm not a small dude and I sleep on my side sometimes.

Admittedly I never have, part of my concern is I tend to run "warm" when I sleep so I'm guessing it might not be that great for me.

I know there are those hybrid "foam but with coil" mattresses out there too and I found a bedframe company that can take my size and is designed for airflow:

Given it's foam what's the "heat" aspect like? I've had memory foam pillows that do nothing BUT retain heat and others that stay relatively cool all night.

I know lot's speak about "gel cooling layers" but there's always a small part of me that has the skeptical "yeah, I'll believe it when I see it" mentality too.

My parents had an absurdly expensive bed and bedding. When they came to visit I slept on the fold out and gave them the bedroom where they slept on my Ikea bed and bedding. When they returned to Canada, they purchased a new bed and bedding from Ikea.

This is another thing for me I'm scared of. Spending too much. The frame I get spending a lot, I'm a big dude and even in shape I'd be a big guy so I need a frame that straight up says "it can hold 1500lbs" and has videos of people jumping on the mattress without it cracking so I personally at least am super ok with spending almost $900 on a frame if it stands up to that abuse as I could keep it for decades then.

The bed part though, I've slept on a fucking futon for the last like 10 years just fine so part of me wonders if I should just find some cheap super firm bed in a box and just go with it.

FWIW, My mattress has the gel cooling layers.
I think the idea behind them is that they absorb heat slower than the foam, so They feel cooler as you fall asleep, but they will probably match the foam temp by the time you wake up.
Some mattresses have TiCu blended into the foam to conduct heat away from the sleeper

Thanks.

Guess I'll just invest in like a tower fan or something.

I think this response indicates that my point didn't really get through. If you want to make a case that the NYT is systematically biased against Bernie, a questionable grievance about a particular story doesn't cut it. Also, I didn't see them painting his speech in a negative light. Another story on it noted this:

For some, like Senator Amy Klobuchar, this was a nearly nine-hour event. For others, like Senator Bernie Sanders, who is less interested in stop-and-chats with voters, it took 45 minutes or so.

It's not necessarily better to spend all time chatting with people, but it's a different approach, and it's worth noting in coverage of the event.

Maybe, but no organization can stand up to that kind of vigilance from critics. Once you're in the mental space of interpreting something like that tweet as an attempt to undermine the campaign, you're beyond any hope of a reasonable assessment of the paper's coverage.

I'd swing by the ikea to see if the beds can support your enormous girth. They have good stuff. And you're poor. And they have meatballs.

"I get it Ubi, of course the Russian has the performance enhancing drugs"

"Wait, I'm Russian... so of course I'm supposed to know something about it"

I love how Ubisoft gets away with real casual racism/stereotyping in Rainbow Six Siege. First Castle, the ONLY BLACK DUDE, gets a charm for his gun that is a mix tape, the 4 Russian Operators are all scary as fuck looking and built like WSM and one is known for killing the hostage with a device that shoots exploding hockey pucks into the room while the two Japanese operators have these really weird techy gadgets.

And then they make one of the Aussies super short and really impatient AND an adrenaline junkie:

I think Polish's posts in the thread are most important to view: to realize that government corrections facilities are woefully underfunded and staffed as part of the long-term Republican privatization effort. Just last week an inmate in Tennessee who was in prison for child abuse and aggravated kidnapping escaped, raped and murdered a prison employee, and then bolted. Was caught yesterday.

The most troubling part of the story is the reports that he was previously founded unconscious with marks on his neck. If that's the case, there was no excuse for him to not be under constant surveillance given the high profile nature of his case. With that said, I would obviously say that it being suicide is still by far the most likely happening. But I don't think foul play should be ruled out.
Think about this for a second:
Everyone in every law enforcement org in the country knew that if there was one person in the country that would commit suicide in the next couple of days, it would be Epstein. In a scenario where every aspect of his day could be monitored and controlled, he still managed to do it. Even if it can't be attributed to corruption, it is still a case of incompetence of the highest order. Heads need to roll.
