Wrestling is the most efficient fighting style for MMA, but it is also the most boring to watch.

Crotch sniffing, leg humping, lay-and-pray, playing it safe, top control... Call it what you will. It is efficient as fuck and wins fights on the score cards, no doubt about that.
But I will be damned if I wanna watch this shit for 25 long minutes.
Last night we witnessed just this. I haven't been so bored since the times GSP used to lay-and-pray fools to dominant decisions.

Bring back Pride style knees to the head on the ground!

It'll provide ways for wrestlers to finish fights, but also punish the wrestlers who spam takedowns and get sprawled at

The rules have always favored wrestling, it's time for that to change. Dana needs to tell these leg humpers that wrestling is an opportunity not a career.

wrestling is fun when it’s competitive with lots of scrambles and position changes such as Armen v Gamrot or Evolev v Stirling.

But if it’s a one sided smothering it’s kinda dull most times.

Unless you’re into the technical aspects of mma it doesn’t make the best TV.

Exactly. Wrestling as a martial art is efficient as hell.
But we wanna be entertained, not bored.

Dricus accepted losing the rounds to avoid giving opportunities for submission to Chimaev. He scrambled as few as possible

I don't find it boring, but I do find it unrealistic for IRL fights. I wish MMA rules were designed more around practical reality.

Fights would end on the first takedown. Double leg to side control and then head knees.

Way too brutal.

IMO, that wasn't boring because Khmazat was choosing a boring style. That was boring because DDP had effective defense to minimize damage he took, to hold off submission attempts, and endurance to keep it up. He trained for the eventuality of being taken down and knew how to protect himself very well, but Khamzat's ability to secure the takedowns and to not allow escape were the parts that he couldn't handle.

I think pretty much anyone else would have been finished by the third round, at the latest.

Been that way forever

I hate watching it but I can't deny it works and if I was capable and in the ufc I'd do the same thing. If you can win easily while not taking a lot of risks you should . Your pay check depends on not losing and cte is bad for you.

It's a fighters job to be able to get back up and if they can't that's just how it goes. Ddp is like the last fighter I like left in the ufc and I absolutely hated watching that happen to him ....but he failed at preparation and that loss is all on him. I legit hope he comes back stronger better and wins a rematch someday ....but that will also be on him he just took a possible career defining loss.
