Wrestling gets you in better shape than BJJ/Judo

Sorry bud, Hayliks is right. What you're not understanding is the application of technique. Wrestling has as much as technique as BJJ but the application and emphasis is different. A simplistic way to look at it is just go down the list of what wrestling is good at and what BJJ is good at. BJJ has very poor takedowns compared to wrestling.

BTW you know very little if you think BJJ emphasis small joint manipulations. You're thinking aikido.

uhhh... but isn't application of a technique in itself technique? like as in the technique of setting up a specific technique to get the technique that is the technique you originally had in mind

yeah and i think that one emphasis of bjj is joint manipulation

Don't split hairs buddy. Just drop off the thread quietly. You know nothing.

I dont think it wrestling or bjj, I think it's simply which ever who practices working out harder.

as I understand it there are different types of enegy systems each use primarily. Due to the game all are endurance based compared to a power lifter or shot-putter. Not endurance as in long distance running but the endurance to prolong the fuel system you are using...to perform consistantly or repeat often thruout a match.

I was told that Judo is power endurance, Wrestling is strength enduarnce and BJJ is muscular endurance. If you go from a strength endurance sport like wrestling to bjj, then you might peter out too soon in bjj(in a tuff fight) and become exhausted as you will most likely to be forced to use a less trained fuel system. When a bjjer goes to wrestling vice versa.

All sports have coaches that will get you into peak condition for the sport. Just that wreslting will usually cater less to rec athletes as they dont charge $ and are only 'usually' there for the sport. Not so with bjj and judo.

All sports have much more technique to be used than anyone could handle or learn so whats the point there anyway? Just because one game is wider doesnt mean more tech is used as they have to focus as much on what they choose.. Everyone is going to learn as much as they could possibly.

Your post makes sense... No riddles today?

I have to agree with the ts, wrestling probably one of the most physical tiring grappling sport one can do. I remember loosing 5 pounds water weight after a 2 hour practice thanks giving day

Wtf... just stop talking now buddy.

Yep yep, or going home after practice and not drinking water because you have to make weight.

Yeah, that there is less of a risk of heat exhaustion in wrestling!!

As well as less risk of being attacked in sooo many ways that could instantly lose you the match. Makes a man wanna drink.:icon_lol:

Ever see the open weight final of the 2001 world champs between Michaylin and Tataroglu? I felt sorry for Michaylin in that one, his opponent just didnt want to fight and got penalised to defeat, it took something away from Mikhaylin's win, robbed him of ipponing his way to the gold.

*DING DING DING DING* ANOTHER RETARD IN THE HOUSE!!!

Strength is an asset to have in all of grappling. There was a 4x state champion in Texas that looked like a string bean, everybody he wrestled was physically more fit than him and more muscular, but he was so technically sound, he ruined everybody.

Talking about physicaly strength, Jeff Monson would not have won 1/10th as many matches if he wasn't able to just muscle people around.

You are truly a moron to think that wrestling relies more on physical strength than technique. You say on average but how true is that for bjj as well? Most people in the world who train bjj are white belts, white belts generally rely on strength to overcome their lack of technique. How many threads are made on here from people complaining about spazzy white belts using ALL their strength and going balls to the wall as hard as possible? At the very least 3 threads/week.

You calling people retards doesn't make you right. There may be some "string bean" wrestlers and there are some Monson size grapplers. Neither of which is typical. What I was saying in a previous post where you called me a retard was that the technique in wrestling is much better applied with strength. There are many more unassuming BJJ guys than wrestlers, i.e. Cooper, Kron Gracie, Glover, Roger Gracie, Marcelo, Moares, Lovato Jr., etc.

Can't recall. I was thinking more along the lines of how not uncommon it can be to lose a very, very important match inside of 20 seconds or even while trying to stand/stall for restart. Judos game is very, very intense.

Oh yeah I got that, getting beaten quicky is very common if you are tense and nervous, especially a short and sharp leg sweep that you dont see coming at all in the opening exchanges.
