I worked overnight at a radio station, and when I started, I was warned that women would call and want to hook up but that no matter what you think, you can't tell. Well, the first experience with a caller was actually pretty good so I kind of disregarded the warning, and was kind of flirty with another caller, who invited me to her place after I got off. I was kind of horrified when she answered the door, but I didn't want her to feel bad (given how our talk had gone, it would have been obvious). She wasn't just like below average--it was pretty remarkable. But I managed to make it happen. Learned an important lesson. Keep it friendly until. "You want to meet me? Sure. Why don't you bring some donuts, and I'll give you a tour of the station?" That way, it's a nice time for both of us no matter what, free donuts for me, and a nice experience for her.

....what does "I managed to make it happen" mean?

I’m sure there are shitty ones in the group as well. I’d best most are just gross looking weirdos who are harmless.

Tho I have heard their shows were disgusting years ago. Lots of drug use right out in the open.

When I was in HS, there was this mentally handicapped kid that some other kids would take advantage of. They'd point someone out and say, "go struggle him, Mike." And then he'd go to the target and grab him by the shoulders and shake. People didn't know how to react, and the kids that initiated that would be giggling their heads off. I felt conflicted because Mike clearly enjoyed the attention and he had friends, but they were using his kind of awkwardness field in an undignified way (were they laughing with him or at him? Did it matter if he was having fun, too?). That's kind of how I see the N13 "fans."

This was a storyline in one of the episodes of freaks and geeks.

They played Sepak Takraw in my area as a kid. It's basically kick volleyball with a wicker ball. Elbows, headers and body blocks are allowed as well. The high level players are ridiculous.

Speaking only of Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia, they were definitely public figures. Although not to the extent of footy players in Australia. ...but then Australia is sports mad in general in comparison.
It was bigger in Malaysia than in Indonesia as well. Couldn't really gauge the popularity in Thailand, but I expect it's pretty high because they kick arse at it.
