That one always bugged me, too. Like, are they supposed to be closed during school hours? Also, why is cooking fast food less worthy of an adult wage than, say, driving a truck? Or operating a forklift? Or any other job that requires mastery of some simple equipment and a few repetitive tasks? Frankly, I’d like the people handling my food to be well compensated.

Ultimately, there has to be a hierarchy. Someone has to be underfoot otherwise the low man on the totem pole is you. Got the poor guarding their scraps from the destitute while the wealthy eat great.

It’s disgraceful how little they pay the workers yet their CEO made millions. It’s mostly in stocks but his salary is over a million and the other executives have similar earnings. They’ve also made billions in profit despite the pandemic.
I support the free market but this is beyond that and is exploitation.

Most corporate executives compensation is in equity awards. The thought was by doing this you tie the compensation to the success of the company and incentivize the executives.

But the drawback is all their decision making is on quarterly earnings and not longterm growth. Also their compensation skyrocketed and good chunk of it is taxed at the capital gains rate (the windfall benefit).

I think we'd be better off if executives were just compensated with cash and given the opportunity to purchase stock like normal employees

I realize I have a lot of political triggers, and I'm not working on it, but I don't think there is any argument that pisses me off more than "server and fast food jobs aren't supposed to be able to support a family - they're for teenagers!" Saw some guy comment that with "if we pay them career wages, cheeseburgers will cost $21.50!" added on top at the end.

Beyond being just stupid and never based on actual realities of the industries, it's explicitly saying that you want to exploit someone for convenience. That cheaper cheeseburgers mean so much to you that you want other people to live in poverty in order to provide it.
Good point. Might be my natural European arrogance, but none of the doom scenarios surrounding minimum wage you Americans create are happening in Europe. Fast food is dirt cheap, there's a lot of small businesses...

Guys, if I were to start an ignore list, and if I were to use the list of folks saying they would never in their lives get vaccinated against the rona, would that be a bad choice?

I am really thinking whether my WR experience would suffer. Check it out. Maybe I would need to sort out manually a couple of them, but maybe not?

There are a few good eggs in there.

Honestly I think the Fed should give everyone that gets vaccinated $1,000 to incentivize it. That's the next round of stimulus lol

I would give my left nut for the ability to make non awkward small talk
"Well, we've found the right testicle" -EMT
"Um... what about the left one?" -Peggy
"That's just it... we can't find it" -EMT
"BWWWAAAAHHHHHH" - Hank

Guess we know where Hank used his left testicle.

1000 is a bit much, but in general, yeah. People need incentives to get from the 50 to the 70%.

If you think there are relevant posters I should keep for this exercise, let me know.

Oh god, the righties have claimed the "sacred" Olympics. For fucks sake lmao.

I see another Disney + Marvel thread is popping like crazy as well. What kind of fucking laughable middle-aged man-baby meltdowns am I missing out on? OP of that takes worst TS of the year by a landslide too. It isn't even close.

There's a thread about the Olympics clarifying their anti-politics rule and they've taken it to be a ban on BLM specifically. Of course since BLM bad, Olympics have to be good, so they've now elevated it to a borderline religious institution.
