I realize I have a lot of political triggers, and I'm not working on it, but I don't think there is any argument that pisses me off more than "server and fast food jobs aren't supposed to be able to support a family - they're for teenagers!" Saw some guy comment that with "if we pay them career wages, cheeseburgers will cost $21.50!" added on top at the end.

Beyond being just stupid and never based on actual realities of the industries, it's explicitly saying that you want to exploit someone for convenience. That cheaper cheeseburgers mean so much to you that you want other people to live in poverty in order to provide it.

I only buy milk from rescue cows.

Is there a reason milk cannot be frozen? I like that idea if not.

Biggest issue that comes to mind is the excess energy consumption, like JDrag implied.

Btw, on the topic of lactose intolerance, I tried what was (IIRC) lactose free milk last year and it was super disgusting. Smelled exactly like unseasoned baked chicken breast. Which is not a good smell imo.

We are going to have a tip discussion here.

I am fine with giving something on top, but why should I assist the restaurant with paying shitty wages? Why should I have the moral responsibility to tip excessively because I know they cannot otherwise meet ends? Note that tips are usually tax free, so also economic activity where the state cannot reap benefits. Finally, why lie to ourselves about the actual cost of goods or services?

Sure, if you are positive you end something the same day, that makes sense. Also for certain Items, the expiry date does not really matter.

For meat, fish etc. (if I buy them packaged at all in the first place), I am a bit more sensitive.

One of the benefits (imo at least) of growing up working class in the United States is that freshness of food was just never a consideration for me. And it still isn't. Basically everything I ate growing up was canned, and I regularly ate things past the expiration date so long as it passed my mother's smell test. It really wasn't until I dated a girl from outside the US that I realized that fresh food is more the norm in other countries where national corporations/supply chains don't dominate local markets.

My only childhood encounter with food spoilage was through the legendary video game Oregon Trail. Also my only encounter with dysentery to date.

Why should you? Because that's how the system works. You change that through the ballot box, not through impoverishing service workers. And it's not like the average person is paying more: the restaurants are able to offer lower menu prices based on lower wages.

The/my biggest problem with it is that it's morally regressive rather than economically progressive. That is, instead of comfortable people tipping more and poor people tipping less, it tends to be decent people tipping more and indecent people tipping less.

I"ve tried Oat Milk and Almond Milk as substitutes. I like them both, but they don't compare to a glass of cold milk (when it hits your lips, is soo good).

edit: 1%, 2%, or High Octane, but not skim milk.

Yeah, I don't mind oat or almond milk. Been meaning to try coconut milk. But that lactose-free milk was something awful.

Do you believe if minimum wages grew considerably, the tipping mania would end?

Hmm, I really don't know. Not sure I know what "tipping mania" really means. Positions that can receive tips have expanded a bit but due to changes in technology (i.e. the ability to provide tip options on basically any card transaction). And the amount of traditional tipped positions has grown due to the gig economy. But I'm not old enough to know if norms surrounding tipping have necessarily evolved otherwise.

One particular profession that is tipped that I kind of don't get is tattoo artist. I got a tattoo and had no idea until later that I was supposed to tip. Ultimately, it took the guy 15 minutes and I paid $65, so I didn't feel to bad about it.

All I know is that tipping in the US (and some parts of Canada, as far as I am familiar) is just insane. Tipping, as I understand it, is supposed to be a small bonus for a job well done. I remember eating at a restaurant in either CA or BC (forgot which) and getting tip proposals when paying which was a huge wtf moment for me (could be better = 15%, satisfied = 20%, great 25%, I think there even was a 30% option).

I think it is unfair to customers, the vast majority of waiters, and tax payers. The only ones benefitting from creating the moral tension between customers and restaurant staff are employers and the investors backing them. It is capitalism on speed. If you don't tip me enough, I will starve. Wtf? I eat at your restaurant, I pay for my meal, and if I am satisfied, you will get a tip (which will regularly be the case still).

And you think edginess isn't a part of that? And that the violence in the pit had nothing to do with masculinity?

@Gutter Chris, here's some old tyme white grievance. :)

I love minor threat.

I don't even know what @essie is even talking about with this white grievance punk rock.

It sounds like whiny bitch shit tbh, and shockingly so considering it was released like 40 years ago lmao. Like bro, who fucking cares. However, the dude's personal upbringing in DC is important and adds a whole lot of context there. I do like Slayer's cover better though from a musical standpoint.

Thread title needs work.

I was going to go with "Find someone who loves you as much as the WR hates Black people" or "You think that vaginas without clitoral hoods look better?" both courtesy of @essie. You know, those are kind of eyebrow raising titles and either of them would've put some early steam into this massively depressing thread.

Do you like tonguing down vaginas? I actually feel like I was pretty skilled at it despite not wanting to but there was only so much of that v-juice I could handle. One chick squirted a fucking waterfall into my mouth once. :(

20 Years.

Crack heads stand adjacent
Anger displacement from food stamp arrangements
You were a still born baby, mother didn't want you
But you were still born, boy meets world
Of course his pops is gone, what you figure
That chalky outline on the ground is a father figure?
So he steps to the next stencil, that's a hustler
Infested with money and diamond cluster
Lets talk in layman terms
Rotten apples and big worms, early birds and poachers
New York is evil at its core, so those who have more than them
Prepare to be victims ate up by vultures, the politicians
In a dog eat dog culture, that'll sick 'em
Lack of mineral, we take it personal
A pigeon can't drop shit if it never flew
Every day is no frills, empty krills
Broken 40 bottles and MCs with skills
I rest my head on 115
But miracles only happen on 34th, so I guess life is mean
And death is the median
And purgatory is the mode that we settle in (no doubt)
I've got that Eve's Bayou sense of touch
So I fought, to touch every hand of a fan to read their thoughts
Battered wives, molested children
Roaches on the floor, rats in the ceiling
Cats walk around New York with two fillings
One is in their mouth, the other does the killing
