The Olympics ain't happening this year. There's a thread about the Olympics clarifying their anti-politics rule and they've taken it to be a ban on BLM specifically. Of course since BLM bad, Olympics have to be good, so they've now elevated it to a borderline religious institution.
I realize I have a lot of political triggers, and I'm not working on it, but I don't think there is any argument that pisses me off more than "server and fast food jobs aren't supposed to be able to support a family - they're for teenagers!" Saw some guy comment that with "if we pay them career wages, cheeseburgers will cost $21.50!" added on top at the end.
Beyond being just stupid and never based on actual realities of the industries, it's explicitly saying that you want to exploit someone for convenience. That cheaper cheeseburgers mean so much to you that you want other people to live in poverty in order to provide it.
When you say direct cash transfers do you mean something like an UBI where they deposit that to you on a monthly or every other month basis? And would that be done by the Federal level or the State level? That's a kind of jerky way to put it, but we should address poverty (separate issue from inequality or optimal distribution and ideal MWs) through direct cash transfers rather than trying to engineer it so that every job pays enough to support an arbitrary number of people. The other one is more annoying because it's part of a class of bad arguments that are really poisonous. Almost every policy change has tradeoffs, but people have a hard time being careful to accurately represent the size of potential bad effects (in that specific case, could a MW hike raise the minimum prices at which a business can survive? Sure, but the level of the increase would be very small, and the firms affected likely have minimal pricing power--whatever one thinks about MW, that's not an important counter), which in turn means that other people are incentivized not to acknowledge any bad effects, which turns the whole argument into a charade. People aren't examining the evidence and reasoning to find out the truth; they're just using whatever hammers they can find to hit the other guy with.
Guys, if I were to start an ignore list, and if I were to use the list of folks saying they would never in their lives get vaccinated against the rona, would that be a bad choice?
I am really thinking whether my WR experience would suffer. Check it out. Maybe I would need to sort out manually a couple of them, but maybe not?

Japan may have the torch folks running right now but their numbers are spiking and I would wager it gets canned again.

That's how it feels when I see it on TV. We get NHK at the house so I see it during the TV Japan news segments and you get this feeling even the newscasters, who... IMO are far better at at least sounding impartial than American ones, are getting annoyed with the farce of the torch running as they don't want the Olympics to go.Pretty sure Japan doesn't want to do it but they're still getting pressured by the IOC to do it.
Same. Then there's the bullshit China ones next year.Yeah, everything has gone no audience again and it fucking sucks. I hope NJPW doesn't go on hiatus again.

I took three years of it in high school.I never asked, are you fluent in Nipponspeech?
When you say direct cash transfers do you mean something like an UBI where they deposit that to you on a monthly or every other month basis? And would that be done by the Federal level or the State level?
I ask as my state is a dipshit. I filed my taxes back in February, Federal and State. I got my Federal return literally the first week you could in March... I'm still waiting on my State one.... over 2 months later.
I wasn't really asking necessarily for me, just using my experience with the State getting tax returns back for why I'm not a huge fan of leaving this to the states. I can't imagine other states are better about getting this stuff out as it's been over 60 days since the day I filed and I haven't seen it yet.First question: yeah. Second question: one or the other or both.
You wouldn't be someone targeted here, though. Pre-transfer poverty in the developed world is mostly about non-workers, who are mostly children, the elderly, and the disabled. We already reduce elderly poverty from about 45% pre-transfer to just under 10% post-transfer (mostly SS). We don't do nearly as good a job with other groups (including smaller ones, like the unemployed), though that looks to be changing (we've done great with the unemployed lately, and we just took a huge step toward fixing child poverty).
My understanding is that you're around the national median in terms of income and childless so as a practical matter, we can't really do transfers to boost your income (I mean you personally, sure, but not everyone at the median). What gov't can do for people like you, IMO, is aggressive pursuit of full employment, getting out of the way of housing development, increased immigration, and something about healthcare. Of course, you should also benefit from the peace of mind of knowing that if you fall into high-risk categories (have kids, lose your job, become disabled, etc.), you'll be OK.
I find it peculiar you spent so many years in the HW, you strike me as the kind of poster that would absolutely loathe that environment.
It had some golden moments post-TUF though. When I joined Sherdog, I only knew one person in real life who was a hardcore MMA fan (he's the guy who told me to check out the site--2001 account). There was a lot of good MMA-related content at the time. The TUF invasion started to ruin it, and it's just continually gone downhill since.
Can those of us that got Johnson and Johnson get $2000 cause we might all turn into fucking goblins? There are a few good eggs in there.
Honestly I think the Fed should give everyone that gets vaccinated $1,000 to incentivize it. That's the next round of stimulus lol
Yes, there are people here on the rather boring side of things like myself, having been brought up in stable surroundings who have the kind of non-extreme life you describe. For example, I cannot imagine @Lead ever spent more than he set himself a budget for on a night out
But there are also a lot of people here who have been through substance abuse, physical abuse, psychological problems and so on who will listen, I am sure.
There once was a lion somewhere inside
Its teeth have all fallen out
And though I keep trying to face my pride
I'll never make you proud
So I don't want to be different anymore
I don't want to be different anymore
I've changed
No I, I'm trying to be different than before
I'm trying to be different than before
I changed
I try to be the rock for my wife. I believe having an anchor is quite important. Does not have to be a partner, it can also be a set of surroundings. In any case, I think you should never overestimate the influence your brain has and never underestimate the influence of the social setting. Also important with therapy. If you don't feel your therapist, if you do not trust, then that is not the right one and you need to try to look for someone else.
Based on what you said, I think (but I am biased) someone with a background in systemic or family therapy might be good. Not sure you need a cognitive-behavioral approach or the couch approach.
Key and goal of it all IMO, developing positivity and appreciation when dealing with yourself. You are important and your life is important. Even if you don't believe me there just yet. But the fact that you apologize when you open up and share your feelings and your story with us just shows me you need to learn to show yourself some love.
Kitchen psychology: you are kind and empathic when dealing with the socially weak, but when dealing with yourself, you often seem harsh. You assign blame to yourself instead of surroundings.
Basically a leftist only for others, but full Republican on yourself![]()
I hate to see you post something like that. For one I am sure we all have our own demons, mine are just really lame and embarrassing so they don't make good fodder for Sherdog posts.
Sometimes people who are experiencing mental health issues will wonder if there's something deep missing form their lives like some greater purpose or family. But in many cases there are simple things they can do to improve their mental health in a big way. One thing is sleep and if I had to guess sleep problems are probably contributing at least in part to your woes here. I get that on some level that's going to be hard to solve due to the nature of your work and given the pandemic you gotta do what you gotta do. But improving your sleep is a big early step you could take to improve your mental health.
To that end cocaine and alcohol are probably only making it worse. Obviously I am a bit of a square these days and my gut instinct is to tell you to just quit those things. But I also believe that giving people advice you know they won't take is as good as not giving them advice at all so I'll say that you at least need to drastically change your relationship to those drugs. They should be slaves to you, not you to them. If you feel that you need them to function on a regular basis then that's a sign that they've enslaved you. The sad part is that, from my cursory reading of the relationship between coke and sleep, your problems will get worse before they get better if you quit. And that rough withdrawal period is very likely to end with you falling right back into the problem.
I know I struggle a bit with marijuana dependence and while its nowhere near as bad as dealing with those drugs it can still effect one's sleep cycle pretty badly. I took a ~5 month break recently and having the fog lifted was great. Thing is coke is a bit more intense so depending on your level of dependence quitting cold turkey could be risky.
It had some golden moments post-TUF though.
PositiveBalance melting down not once but TWICE when Frankie beat BJ. To the point he lost his mod powers after the second one and then was banned shortly after that.
Um.... the GSP/BJ bullshit years?
I'm impressed. He came back with another account but left again.
Edit: wasn't sure if it was banned. It's not
I'm impressed.
