Patrisse Khan-Cullors, the leader of Black Lives Matter and a self-described Marxist, recently purchased a $1.4 million home in an exclusive Los Angeles neighborhood where the vast majority of residents are white, according to reports.

Khan-Cullors, 37, signed a multi-platform deal with Warner Bros in October, although it is not clear how much she is paid by BLM since their finances flow through a complex web of for-profit and nonprofit corporate entities.

Very much like Rage Against The Machine.
Behind every far leftists, there’s corruption, hypocrisy and authoritarianism. BLM is a giant scam, likely used to launder money and all donations are kept in these angels pockets. So much for spending on minority neighborhoods lol. Can’t wait for these thugs to go down, they won’t last.

There is no evidence that any money was laundered or that charity funds were used to purchase that home. Why you are assuming that is questionable at best.

Where then did all that money come from suddenly? I feel like IRS should take a peak

If I stop posting here I either got married and had kids or hung myself, there will be no in between.

Let me assure you being married and having kids does not at all slow the sherdogging down

Unless you were some weirdo who only posted while at home and not exclusively while at work to begin with

I don’t know her so I have no idea where her money comes from. It’s not really my business but if you think an investigation is required then I’d be interested in the results.

I know we disagree a lot, but really I hope your boys can swim. If you're gonna go, let us all have our Ben Affleck at the end of "Good Will Hunting" moment where we figure out you went on to bigger and better things.

Hah, yeah. I was kinda riding your dick in that thread a little bit, but at least nobody can accuse me of white knighting essie.

  1. I got stung by a worker bee today for the first time since childhood and I was equal parts amused and impressed by how painful it actually was. I don't remember the burning sensation of the venom being that intense, but I left the stinger in my arm for at least three minutes until it had emptied all of its toxins. I figured that it had suffered a severe abdominal rupture and made the ultimate sacrifice just for the opportunity to penetrate my flesh, so it was the least I could do.

Yeah, I don't throw that label around lightly either (in fact, virtually never). I know what was going on in that thread and if there were any lines to read between, they were very clearly defined. The sentiment was downright fucking vile. And then this absolute clown car of an OP in the same day:

UNREAL.

I was hovering over it last night. Very nearly called out a certain retired cop for being a giant cockhead as much as he cries about police being unfairly maligned.

I don't think a mortgage payment on a $1.4M home is that out of bounds either.. I doubt they paid cash.

Who does that?

What do you think her main revenue stream is? She’s not a big entrepreneur nor holds big positions in politics, commerce or entertainment, so her main income are these donations she receives as part of BLM. Donations she’s supposed to use for reducing police brutality and on depraved minority neighborhoods.
With such people at their helm, I don’t expect them to last long, they usually implode under the weight of scandals and corruption.

Well isn't the argument against gentrification that the affluent residents don't necessarily patronize the local businesses but rather set up their own that cater to their affluent tastes which, combined with the increased property values and rising rents, leads to the original residents being displaced?

Maybe that doesn't even happen and even if it does the displaced residents might still be better off if the economy of the city grows overall such that when they are displaced to a different part of the town they still benefit from the economic expansion. I'm just throwing out what I see to be the standard argument against so called gentrification.

I would hate to generalize. I am sure both happens and to what extent is going to depend on the situation. I think it sometimes helps to think in extremes in situations to break down these types of things (at least helps me think it through). Like what is supposed to happen if you had a region that was filled with a population that had minimal skills, marginal small businesses, poor infrastructure, largely owned by outsiders (Zone B) and it was located right beside or even surrounded, the most economically successful area (Zone A). It built up that way do to some policy, zoning, or bad city planning and that impediment now goes away?

I think one choice is to lock Zone A into a fixed zone. This constrains economic activity and causes RE prices in that zone to sky rocket as supply can only be increased with build ups / downs (high rises and basement levels) combined with possibly creating an extremely inefficient outside ring (burbs in Zone C). Zone B becomes an economic ghetto. What is more, unless you start passporting, it may not even solve the problem as Zone A residents will still be buying Zone B property (although I do think that if the property is really bad, that poor conditions will mitigate demand, also this part would not apply to the "stopping the new tech firm from coming in" case).

Alternatively Zone A expands into B. Option 2 allows for an overall and more efficient increase in economic activity and wealth but displaces Zone B residents and existing businesses to at least some degree. To me that sounds like just another example of (and it sounds crass I know) creative destruction that comes with economic growth. The key, IMO, is how to manage that so that Zone B's original residents see some of the overall accrued benefit.
