We’re looking at a club for close to 8k a year, but it’s a family plan and has indoor and outdoor pools, tennis courts, and a gym. Plus (at a discounted charge per use) access to a private golf course, spa, hotel and hotel bars and restaurants. Still not sure if it is worth it since we have a community pool already, but the course is nice and they offer swim lessons for the kids. How much are swim clubs by you guys?
We just joined one for $600 for the both of us for the summer and that seemed reasonable
Have you considered a second revenue stream? $200 isn’t much to make up with a little part time job. I always had two jobs back in the day to give me some cushion. Usually something really easy and air conditioned, like stocking books at Borders on the weekend. Or a few delivery shifts at a pizza place.Found another apartment downtown that looks nice but it's like... $200 more than I would want to pay. I could make it work financially but it wouldn't leave a lot of wiggle room financially.
These supply shocks are getting out of hand.
If I moved downtown I would 100% go back to bouncing at least two nights a week or being a barback.Have you considered a second revenue stream? $200 isn’t much to make up with a little part time job. Pretty much.
"Hey [non-homogenous political group], you supported [reasonable, popular belief] so are you willing to accept responsiblity for the consequences of [extreme, unpopular belief]?"
It's a clumsy and malicious wielding of an argument from absurdity that fails to acknowledge the extensive productive and practical space in between the two positions.
"I bet none of the LEFTISTS on this site will condemn this"

@sickc0d3r to be fair I'd do that if I moved into a more econimical spot in order to put more money in my wallet. I'd rather work a second job for extra spending money and not to just pay utilities.
Every time I've seen a reference to something called "Warhammer" here, I've just assumed it's some kind of rock band. Just realized that it's actually a video game or something.

Yeah, I never did it to make bills. Always for fun money. But then, I sucked at budgeting and denying myself any fun, which is why I needed it.@sickc0d3r to be fair I'd do that if I moved into a more econimical spot in order to put more money in my wallet. TBF what I could do is get the downpayment for a nice house that has like a mother-in-law style basement and start the mortgage for that, folks move into that like attached apartment thing, and we can sell the house they have now then. What you really need is another job that pays better. That, or hold off on the buying a house thing until you inherit (which hopefully will not be too soon, of course).

It's partially why I did it when I was in Washington.Yeah, I never did it to make bills. Always for fun money. But then, I sucked at budgeting and denying myself any fun, which is why I needed it.
Lol. Which would accomplish what exactly...?It would be fun to have a forum or thread where only arguments of this form were allowed and the posters were all anonymous (i.e., no usernames). No direct references to "sides," parties, specific people, or events.
Would you suck your own penis if you had the right body shape?

I actually don't think the form is inherently invalid, so long as x is a demonstrable consequence of y. Government payouts during a pandemic could result in extended unemployment, for example, and supporters of the former might not appreciate the downside of the latter. But the focus of the discussion always skips that key step and is usually much more ridiculous.
I wouldn't mind if we had @essie-world become the universal reality nevermind Sagan's sentiment in "Pale Blue Dot", but for now (legit) 'toxic masculinity' can only be met with equal or greater force. I hate having to switch that on, but it was like a mode of survival for most of my life and the social environment(s) I occupied.
People would have to actually think because the absurdity of a lot of arguments would be undeniable.
