Wow Cain and his fans are delusional

How come every fan on Sherdog is so salty. Everyone here is either a sore loser or sore winner? My guy just lost. Im salty. My guy just won. Im a dick. Your guy just lost. He sucks. Youre dumb for liking him. My guy just won. He can beat everyone in the world at the same time. If you dont agree you should play in traffic. Smh...

I had no vested interest in this fight. So here is my unbiased opinion. Was it the punch or the knee? Looked like both to me. Ngannou clipped him. Cain's knee gave out. Looked like potentially a flash KO, which people come back from all of the time. Thats not to say Ngannou wouldnt have clised the deal anyways. Maybe he would have. But Cain seemed okay after the fight was stopped aside from his knee (which is often the case with a flash KO). So its also a possibility that he could have recovered if not for the knee.

So do I give Ngannou credit for the win? Yes. He did his part. He did nothing wrong. Injuries happen. They are part of the game. It didnt come from anything illegal. If anything, it was a biproduct of how Cain fell when he was clipped. So again, credit to Ngannou.

But..., as a fan, its hard to enjoy this outcome because I still wonder what happens if the knee doesnt go out. There is also the disappointment because after having a top HW on the shelf for so long (and its not the first time or him), you dont want to see him injured again in the first half minute of his comeback fight. So regardless if it was the punch, the knee, or both, or if youre a fan of Velasquez, Ngannou, neither, or both, how can you be happy about how the fight played out? Especially considering how the main events have gone this weekend. Youve got the Mitrione nutshot, the Invicta FW title fight, Boukichou's leg going the way of Corey Hill/Anderson Silva, the lackluster strategic grudge match between MVP and Daley, and now this.
I would argue that you shouldn't be unhappy because the knee injury wasn't a freak accident. If Ngannou did something that caused Cain to be injured, it's a square finish. We don't control how a man falls when he drop him.

Cain was always overrated, let's stop this bullshit. He got rocked and fell weird, that's all. Fake an injury to discredit Ngannou - even that scene of him, saying Ngannou doesn't have fault, blah blah blah - only proves that he is not only overrated, but have no honor.

CONGRATS NGANNOU, to rip his head off. "Is normal". He is back to retirement and his overrated aura forever.

If Cain is overrated, everyone is overrated. Cain was a legit beast in his prime. Who the fuck destroys prime JDS twice and is overrated? You must be out of your damn mind.

No credit to Ngannou whatsoever.Well maybe he should fight Ngannou again when his knee heals up LOL
Sure, right after JDS 4.

Cain.

That uppercut had nothing on it. His knees gave out. He's done, what difference does it make.

90% of Ngannous punches missed anyway. He didn't exactly put on a clinic, not really an impressive win by any metric.
his knee gave out because he was hit by a ford escort which he didnt see coming from beneath him.

They could fight 10 times...maybe 100 times and his knee isnt going to give out following an uppercut. So I think it is the definition of a freak injury. How often do you see it. You dont.

Let me put it like this, even a cut can be part of a strategy (see kenny florian). Even though its a long stretch, you could maybe argue at this point that checking kicks could potentially result in a broken leg for your opponent. But when have we ever seen an uppercut result in a blown knee?

Well, given Cain's history of fragility it doesn't seem outlandish that his knee would tear on an awkward fall.

It also seems pretty safe to believe that being dropped by Francis leaves almost no chance of recovery regardless of the knee.

So my personal opinion is this: there have been a couple of early stoppages lately and I hate them. TJ and Alvey come to mind. My thing is that I need to be sure that the fight was decided and the right guy won without question. I get that feeling with the Francis and Cain. I believe Cain was ready for this fight and I don't believe he had any chance of winning following what happened in there.

It's good enough for me, that's all.

Maybe. Maybe he finishes him right there regardless of the knee. Maybe not. You would think the same if prime Carwin was on top of a guy pounding away. But we actually got to see it go both ways with him. They let it go on too long with Mir. So if they had stopped his fight with Lesnar, undoubtedly, some people would have said that it doesnt matter because it would have probably looked like the Mir fight if they let it keep going. But instead, they let it play out and Lesnar weathered the storm while Carwin punched himself out.

Maybe Ngannou stops Cain. Maybe he punches himself out first. Maybe he eases up so he doesnt punch himself out, giving Cain a chance to recover.

Maybe youre fine with the fight. Thats okay. But its hard for me to be satisfied with fights that end in injury. I would say the same thing about any fight that ends in an injury. Especially 20 seconds into the fight.

Now, if Ngannou was dominating him for a few minutes first, maybe it would feel a little more definitive.

With the way the fight happened it's hard to give anyone much credit.
You don't fall to the ground screaming and holding your knee if you're stopped by a punch.
dellusion. he fell because francis punched him in the jaw.

I can agree about an injury ending the fight. I feel the same. Woodley v Condit comes to mind. I should rewatch but I felt the injury kind of happened as opposed to woodley directly causing it and I left a little disappointed. I don't get the same feeling here, because if Cain's knee was really damaged, I can directly attribute it to something Francis did.
