Would Mighty Mouse win UFC 1 tournament?

I should also add that this is not a pro-MM thread. I respect him but I would sleep just as well at night if the UFC got rid of the 125 class and forced those guys back to 135.

And I personally believe Shamrock has historicaly gotten a raw deal. You can only fight who is in front of you and available as your peer at that time, and he eventually wound up at the top of the pack for a while. Thats worth something

Rorion picked all the original entrants, in 1993, for a reason.

Royce wasn't that much bigger than MM and MM is a better, more complete fighter in almost every conceivable way, so MM could definitely win UFC1.

Serious question: What was the size of the talent pool he was drawing from? How many people were lining up to get into UFC as participants?

Royce was that much bigger.

Could he take a punch or kick from one of those guys and survive?

Think about it for a second.

That's what I'm saying. Gordeau, Rosier, Frazier, and Smith were big guys who all hit hard. It's almost like asking if mighty mouse could take rocky marciano or joe louis in their prime lol

Ok, so he has beaten a couple(2) of guys. He's now in the final.

Who is it that will now undoubtedly beat him? Royce? Hell no he could do it with his limited striking and relatively small size advantage. MM would keep him at bay easily I reckon. Shamrock would have a better chance. Gordeau and Smith would probably get grappled.
i say acouple mainy due ti tayla tuli but if he were matched with royce hed possibly lose that one. if hed face shamrockef hed be pretzled. pat smith was brutal. ppl forget how small MM is. and thats his biggest disadvantage

You guys are so funny when it comes to Rhonda. At my first bjj class the guys thought it would be funny to put me up against a girl who was a brown belt thinking I would get wrecked. Honestly, I thought I was going to get steam rolled myself. After all, this was my first class, I really was nervous. I had about 50 lbs on her, was in decent shape and wrestled in hs. The second we clinched up I could not believe how weak she was. I took her down and there was nothing she could do. With no skill I still out powered her in every position and eventually tapped her with a key lock.

Did you guys not see the video of Rhonda with mousasi? He made it look easy without even trying.

Technique usually beats size and strength, and I can speak personally to that. Not always but usually. Todays MM is a far superior athlete to any of that era, including Shamroid. AND you guys are forgetting Matt Hume.

If Size and Strength were the be all and end all of close combat, we'd be studying Sumo right now instead of BJJ.

Lol Royce was quite a bit larger at about 6 ft 170 lbs.

I have seen Royce about 20 years on and he is not a small guy, not huge or anything but still the 170 thing is a bit Hmmmmmm to me. (I don't doubt he could have cut to 170).

Mighty Mouse would look like a terminator from the future if he went into the UFC tournament, yes he'd win.

Ken would probably be his toughest fight, and I think he'd out cardio and eventually land enough to take ken out

You are high as hell. One good punch from ken and he'd be done. He floored tito at like 40 years old with a punch. He beat people senseless when he postured up too. If ken could eat shit from the likes of severn, rutten and frye I don't think MM has much to offer.

For the sake of this argument assume there was a time machine that would allow you to send a current UFC fighter to enter the first UFC tournament. Assume that the fighter would weigh in at their current weight class but would fight at their normal 20+ pound weight. Who is the lightest champion who would win?

Aldo or anyone higher would be a no brainer. Would Dillashaw beat 1993 Royce or Ken Shamrock? Would Mighty Mouse? I would tend to say yes.

If you chose to weigh in on how Ronda would fare you may. That's a different argument though.

None of them would beat Ken Shamrock that is all I know, and the Ken Shamrock from 1995-1996 would actually murder them into a living death.
