Would Big Nog have defeated Brock at UFC 100?

Really Mir was always vunerable to hanging onto half guard and getting pulped waiting for a sub opening that never came, Freeman and De Pano did it before Brock did. I think Nog would at the very least have a better defencive guard than that even in 2010 not to mention being significantly tougher.

Y’a ever think that just maybe, just maybe, Brock game planned that exact weakness specific to his exact opponent Mir?

It’s almost like if his opponent was someone else he’d have a different specific opponent strategy and so it’s completely pointless to posit how Nog would do in the specific position planned for Mir when Nog isn’t Mir…

You can’t sit here and say “Nog’s great at half guard sweeps and so would sweep Brock from half guard” as that completely ignores that Brock probably wouldn’t go to half guard for that same reason lmao.

Brock would have speared him and gnp him.

No, but he would tire him out and finish him in the later rounds ala Bob Sapp. Brock had shit cardio whereas Nog had some of the best HW has ever seen. He was still going strong at the end of Fedor 3.

Unlike Ricco, Mir never had decent positional grappling, he was great at catching quick subs from unorthodox positions (Tank, Brock 1, Nog 2), but outside of that was not very refined. He could not compete at ADCC like Ricco did. Nogueira was a great positional grappler and outside of Fedor 1, he never took alot of damage from the guard.

Long story short, Nogueira weathers any early storm, tires out Brock, and either subs or TKO's him in round 4 or 5.

Tire him out? How? Brock gas out power bombing him unconscious??? Any version of Nog gets rekt by the worst version of Brock.

Big Nog would have beat Brock in his UFC debut, but by UFC100 Brock had acclimated to being a far better fighter than he was 18 months before.

Its debatable who would have won.

Keep in mind Brock made somewhat easy work of Mir at UFC100, and Mir beat Nog twice. Once before UFC100 and once after it.

Alas by UFC 100 I think Brock would have gotten the stoppage.

Nig was far past it by that stage.

Pride Nog weathers the storm and stops or submits Brock but Zombie ufc Nog was much slower and lacked the durability that he had in his earlier years.

Ufc Nog was Minotauro no more..
