Oktagon is reportedly trying to sign UFC HOF Lawler which retired 2 years ago. Biggest offer in history of promotion up to now was 1 mil euro to Nate Diaz. Will they top it?

In my opinion total bs. They should rather offer big money to Parnasse and try to snatch him from KSW, but thats just my opinion. What do yall think?
Yeah, they shouldn’t break the bank on Robbie at this point. Don’t get me wrong, he’s a legend, but he’s done and he shouldn’t be taking anymore damage and no respectable promotor should be breaking the bank to sign him now. I agree on trying to sign Parnasse, but he’s on a big contract with KSW. I think it was a 5 fight contract that he signed and he’s only fought once or twice so he has 3 or 4 more fights remaining.

Roberto Soldic should have one fight left on his ONE fc contract and is another great "option".

Muradov vs Soldic could be great fight.

I would also like Rozentruik in Oktagon. Problem is that he probably wants same salary as he had in UFC...but is basically unknown fighter for majority of European fans. Tho still better investment than overpaying Lawler (in my opinion.).

Rozentruik vs Buday/Fleury, etc...

Through a random and unrelated series of events, I learned that "gomi" translated to English means "trash." Now I have questions about Takanori Gomi's family history

I wondered the same thing awhile back but can't find the thread. Basically Gomi underperformed academically and left school to pursue MMA, which his parents didn't approve of and subsequently disowned him over. But his surname has nothing to do with that. Gomi can mean "trash" but the way Takanori Gomi's surname is written, it means "five flavors" as in sweet, sour, bitter, salty, umami.

So when he was KTFOing fools with knuckle sandwiches, Gomi was sharing the "five flavors" with his opponents' faces.

I didn't think to make sure it didn't have alternate meanings, even though I'm aware that that is pretty common with their language in the same way it is with English. I'd considered that with his ties to the punk scene it may have been a nickname, similar to something like Mauricio Shogun, but everything I found confirmed it was his given name at birth. This is good insight, I appreciate it

ACA and Jungle Fight are my 2 favorite promotions to watch. Not trying to be a hipster or anything, but they're the 2 promotions I'll actively go out of my way to watch regardless of whatever else is on.

Wallid is now signing fighters to compete in Jungle Fight exclusively and paying them a monthly salary. I'm not sure how much it is, but he's signed a few fighters already. He signed Willians Nogueira at the last event. He also started the Fight of the Million tournament this year where the winners of it won almost $100K. He has said it was a big success and that he's planning on running it again next year. He says there isn't that many opportunities for Brazilian fighters to make a living in MMA and that the opportunities have dried up internationally, so he wants to give Brazilian fighters more opportunities to live off the sport. Folks can hate on him all they want as several fighters have claimed he didn't pay them very much when they competed for him, but it looks like he's trying to turn things around. If that's truly the case, then it's a huge W.

ACA had a great year. Magomed Bibulatov has done a fantastic job since he's taken over as president of the promotion. All of the events I saw delivered and they may have the most stacked regional roster outside of PFL and the UFC. Several of their fighters would be top 10 in their divisions if they were signed to PFL or the UFC -- namely Gasanov, Vartanyan and Omarov.

You all should check out more Peruvian MMA next year. They’re the second best country in MMA in South America after Brazil. The main regional promotions are FFC and Inka. FFC’s events are usually on Thursday nights and are streamed on UFC Fight Pass. Inka’s events are usually on Wednesday nights and are streamed on YouTube, Kick or Twitch. I like their schedules as their events are on quiet nights where no other big organizations are running events on. They usually feature some quality prospects and the events are very well produced.
