Woodley turned down Gastelum's fine. Will Gastelum do the same for Hendricks?

& Do you think he should?

Keep in mind, Woodley won the
fight & Gastelum came in 10lbs over.
Hendricks missed weight by a burger.

"'The kid lost, had his first loss. He’s not going to get his win bonus. Dana has probably yelled at him. His coach has probably yelled at him. He’s probably pissed off about himself. So I just can’t find it in my heart to do that right now. But, I got the win, I had a good performance, and I feel good about it.'"

He goes on further & explains what
experiences he's had as a fighter about
pay & losses & how it had influenced
his decision to turn down the money.

What say you weeniewashers?
Hope everyone enjoys the fights today.

Wow. I admit I had missed this one. Hespect to Tyron Woodley. Very nice of him.

This is literally the only reason I haven't created 54 threads calling Tyron every name in the book for ducking lombard and begging for a title shot.

Woodley is a great guy for doing that. Lawler gon take his soul doe.

I forgot about that. Good catch. We'll see. The fine would be more $$$ for Kevin now than it would have been for Woodley then so not quite a 1:1...

Woodley gets shat on around here, much like the lemmings did with DC for the longest time (and probably will again). But one day. Dude has all kinds of charity work and entrepreneurship stuff going. Grew up dirt poor in a single parent home with some huge number of siblings. Much respect due to the man who makes it out of that and does something with himself AND goes the steps further to pay back the opportunities.

Yeah but if they refuse the fighter that was fined doesn't get the money back, the athletic commission takes it. Nice gesture by Woodley but didn't make a difference to Gastelum.

He accepted and gave the money to Kelvin personally.

i guess it depends on how much he is making
Gastelum is probably making peanuts so that cut in pay would be a big deal as for Hendricks i think he is paid rather well especially considering his fuck ups

It was the first thing I thought of
when I found out Hendricks missed
weight. It's always stood out to me
too. He's a stand up guy. Just not
the most exciting fighter....

Sure. This was discussed back when
it all initially happened. Woodley
could theoretically "accept" the fine
& just pay it forward to Gastelum.
Not hard to imagine. But, depending
on how prideful Gastelum may be,
perhaps it's also not hard to imagine
him declining it...

Not the same because Gastelum makes 20k show money, while Hendricks makes 100k to show -big difference.

Good For Woodley , still don't like his chances against Robbie , but he has power and wrestling , quite frankly Bisping and even Alvarez earlier this week has closed the door on anybody ever doubting that people can pull off big upsets.

Woodley is an honorable guy but I don't see the same in Gastelum. I highly doubt he gives it back

It's the gesture that counts. this moment is a make or break moment for Kevin, giving Jonny the 20% will do wonders to his good will among the fans!

Is this sarcasm?

I'm not trying to pander hate
against kelvin. If he doesn't
give it back, I wouldn't think he's
a piece of shit or anything....
perhaps not the most grateful.
But the majority of this world is
that way....
