Wonderboy is a promoter's worst nightmare.

He should get a top 5 next and Colby is available, doesn't seem like the UFC has done anything yet with Colby vs Masvidal..

And Colby needs 1 more win to get a rematch with Usman so to me that's the fight to make, it's a classic striker / grappler match and personality wise it'd be funny to see come into fruition. I think that's the way to go.

Usman is a better cage cutter, clinch fighter, and wrestler than Colby.

Also more durable, higher fight IQ, and packs a punch

Where are we getting this information from? How do we know that Usman is a better wrestler than Colby? What are we basing this off of? Ditto for everything else you wrote. If this is all true, why was their fight so close? I'll give you that maybe Usman hits harder, but what Colby lacks in power, he makes up for in volume and crispness. He's also the far more exciting of the two to watch.

Just compare their fights against RDA as a parameter, and you'll see how much better of a grappler Usman is.

Lol @ Colby being more "crisp" than Usman. Dude's striking is just windmilling overhands and the occasional body kick

Yeah but he's bad for business. That's the main problem. Neal winning would he the advent of a new contender. What do you do now with Thompson? He probably won't be champ. What's the point of having a contender exterminator, who can't beat the champ? Who do you book him against? Do you start protecting prospects from him? Wtf lol.

You give him the title shot. Wonderboy has fought contenders his entire ufc career, its about fucking time.

Beloved fancy technical striker who throws a wide variety of punches and kicks from both stances who speaks English and is a charming good looking white American that looks like the type of guy a father would want to marry his daughter?

yeah. How do you possibly promote a guy like THAT?!?

TS is right. Wonderboy should be given the title shot.

Sounds like the contenders really are not contenders.

He’s clean cut, a masterclass elusive striker that has a fan friendly style, good YouTube following, well spoken, on the verge of title shot. If it weren’t for monster level wrestlers at 170 he would be reigning champ for a very long time

his YT channel is great, its one of the only ones I watch of MMA fighters.

I watch Max's food breakdowns too cuz they're funny.
His vid with Houston jones was hilarious, wb doesn’t look like he has one shot ko power but his leg kicks are still debilitating to the average person

  1. Probably loses to usman.
  2. Beats every other contender... Except maybe leon?
  3. Doing too well to randomly cut.
  4. Cannibalizes contenders.
  5. How do you book wonderboy? Unless his opponents has the ability to take and hold him down, he's nearly impossible to beat. The only fighters who could fuck with him in the stand up are in different weight classes. Styles like cory, tj, cody, izzy, volk, fiziev, max, even conor would pose interesting challenges... But they're not in the 170 division. How do you book this motherfucker? He'll tool jorge. I'd pick him over colby and everyone else, except usman and Leon. What's next for wonderboy?

I think the matches well with Usman...and presently a unique challenge Usman hasnt faced...

Hear me out

Usman has poor movement ..and bad knees.. Literally either stands still or pushes forward...as we just saw with the Neil fight and most of wonderboys fights he moves incredibly well and picks apart stationary opponents like usman would be...could usman get a hold of him sure...but he'll have to work for it and basically come thru a woodchipper to get to Thompson and the fence...Usman has never faced someone who can move like Thompson and hit at the same time

Wonderboy can't kick him though

Usman has never been taken down. Didn't struggle to hold rda down either. Can't say the same about colby.

I would like to see him fighting Conor, Pereira or Chimaev

Was I the only one turned off by them constantly laughing and high fiving during the fight?

Can't be champ. Kills off contenders. Promoter's wet dream.
What makes you say he can’t be champ? He had too super close fights with Woodley. Woodley’s punching power saved him in those fights, something Usman doesn’t have the benefit of. It’s a different fight.

Doesn’t matter, even if he never wins the belt he has been in some great fights, includes last nights. I don’t think the UFC has much of an issue with him

I'd love to see the Colby fight , would be interesting to see the nicest guy in MMA be verbally abused by possibly the biggest asshole in MMA.

Match him up against Colby (who isn't a draw and doesn't have the best relationship with Dana) so Colby gets pieced up and sent to Bellator next

Then WB gets a title shot against Usman, which is a fascinating stylistic clash

colby and Dana are friends

Nah.

He is articulate and can be used as an intelligent interviewee not like Rick Franklin was used year ago

Yeah same style clash as vs Colby honestly. I'm down for either. Colby vs WB makes sense for both guys IMO.
