I don't think that's the case anymore.

I think both his base, and trump himself, know he's lying. But his lie gives them what they think is moral cover to feign ignorance. The real goal is that cops shoot liberals and get away with it. Most of the supporters cheering this, argued the exact inverse in the S.C. incident where the magatard intentionally rammed a group of unarmed protestors. In that case, all of them argued that the slightest movement around him gave him all the reason to fear for his life and drive directly into the crowd.
