Getting dropped by a 1-2 was considered humiliating, only chumps get caught clean with a 1-2.

The idea was 1-2's should never land clean unless you're out of position. They shamed us into good technique, but it worked. Some of the guys there went on to do big things.

This gif really illustrates the skill mismatches that still dominate WMMA. GDR is a beast of a woman with sound technique. Aspen Ladd is just so-so at everything with a ton of heart. Valentina vs Eye was another massive mismatch. It's harken to 90's MMA.

Edit: Wtf was Aspen doing with her feet? She tried to throw that check hook last minute but her feet were doing the hustle. GDR was probably thinking that was fish in a barrel afterward.

Lately WMMA is beating MMA fair and square, but not so sure how long will it take.. Cyborg seems on the way out, so 1/3 of the non-mom fighters might be leaving.
The problem is the other side of WMMA, a bunch of weak (due to weight limitations, bear in mind) and technically subpar fighters..

Still the two worst fights of the last year were Theodorou's and Hernandes', no WMMA fight went as boring as those. And that's not mentioning Khabib, Usman, Covington & Edwards.
No justification a fighter to outright refuse to fight live on the octagon, if you're not there to fight then you should be fired.

To be fair, even in the bad men’s MMA matches, even if they are bums, they don’t look as bad technically as women do. WMMA has yet to catch up and won’t for some time, but its not as bad as it was 3 years ago.

It’s actually gotten better, there’s more actual athletic women competing, there are women who go out looking to finish which is cool.

I’m still not a HUGE fan of WMMA, but I went from being one of its biggest haters to not minding it at all. It’s a fight regardless, awesome skill and technique can be displayed by both genders so it is what it is.

I just wish the UFC would stick all the fights of unproven WMMA fighters or women who have proven to be boring/not that good on the undercard/early prelims. Save the main card slots for fighters that actually perform, male or female.

My problem with WMMA is that there's too few good fighters, at least in my opinion.

I really like to watch fighters like Cyborg, Nunes, Rose, Shev, Joanna and Shang, but those only fight in main or co main events, the ones who fight in prelims or early in main cards usually are very low level fighters.

So Viviane Araujo probably is going to be the next challenger for Shevchenko.
