Signings/Scouting WMMA Discussion #29

Horrendous pick this week. During announcements it was obvious Polastri is stronger and has longer reach. In the first minute McKenna awkwardly dove in for an ill-timed takedown attempt and proceeded to get schooled in the clinch. I had it 30-27 Polastri and could see maybe 29-28. Sal D'amato bizarrely had it 29-28 Mckenna.

Invicta and UFC veteran Mallory Martin pulled off an upset yesterday, avenging an earlier loss to Katharina Dalisda and capturing the Oktagon strawweight title, in front of a record breaking attendance in Germany. Martin did her homework, and trained to specifically counter Dalisda’s game well:

Picked up a bonus, too:

Cory McKenna cut from the UFC.

Also, what happened to r/WMMA
r/WMMA dead. am half tempted to sign up as a mod but I can't be arsed. plus, r/MMA isn't too bad, the ratio of misogynists is about the same there as it is here

Tonight's Cantender Series features a bout between Julieta "The Ninja Ferret" Martinez and Leslie "Dora the Destroyer" Hernandez.

Is this the best nickname battle in UFC history?

Cheering for the Argentinian, after Hernandez beat Jade Jorand in an LFA special. From now on, I cheer against every LFA fighter that gets to DWCS.

Emily "The Mantis Shrimp" Corso

Btw, what happened to her? She seemed to have a bright future.

OS Engineer. She quite possibly decided that was a better paying and less brutal lifestyle.

She is still active in quite a few things:

A couple regional title bouts that stand out this weekend:
Texas based Peak fighting has a flyweight championship between Alexa Connors and their current BW champ, Natalya Speece, who’s moving back down to her preferred weight class

Korean Jung Yoon Choi, the current Double G bantamweight champ, is going to Brazil and fighting outside of Asia for the first time as she takes on Layze Cerqueira for the vacant Jungle Fight bantamweight title. Layze looks like she bounces back and forth between fly and bantam. Choi seems to have trouble getting mean in the cage, pulling the trigger. I’ll go with Layse, but rooting for Choi. I had a feeling when she got the Double G belt she’d get more oppurtunities like this.

Technically after the weekend, on Tuesday for some reason, UAE Warriors has Valentina Escobar vs Jacinta Austin for the vacant strawweight championship. Escobar is undefeated at 6-0, while Austin is one of the best fighters out of Australia

picks:
- super mely 2.0
- jessica, if she doesn't resort to pulling guard...
- joselyne by tiddy ko? surely it can't happen twice to tamires

nice of ufc to schedule all the women's fights in a row so the haters can all fuck off for one long piss break
